   A Record Number of Marathon and Half Marathon Runners Ran in Tallinn
 
SEB Tallinn Marathon 2014 set a new record in the Baltics with 2166 
registered for marathon and 2999 for half marathon. These numbers confirm 
that SEB Tallinn Marathon is the biggest sports event in the Baltics.
 
The winner of SEB Tallinn Marathon, held in the centre of Tallinn on Sunday 
14 September, is Ethiopian runner Tesfaye Dadi Beyene. This the second win 
in a row for Beyene, since he was the winner last year as well. He won the 
race with a time of 2:17:29.
 
Beyene beat second place Estonian Ilja Nikolajev (2:21:34) by almost 4 
minutes. Heinar Vaine (2:23:36), the biggest surprise among the three best, 
finished third. Being the first Estonian to finish, Nikolajev also took the 
Estonian championship title.
 
The winner among women was Evelin Talts from Estonia with a time of 
2:56:26, which gave her the 49th place overall. Talts also received the 
Estonian championship title. Anu Teppo was second with a time of 2:58:58 
(61st overall). The third place went to Kaisa Kukk with a time of 2:59:10 
(64th overall).
 
Jacob Yator (1:05:37) from Kenya won the half marathon and Tiidrek Nurme 
(29:47) from Estonia won the 10-kilometre race for the 6th time.
 
All distances combined (marathon, half marathon, 10 kilometres, children 
and youth run) there were 20 314 participants from 42 different countries.
