Press Release - Team USA Minnesota - 4/13/10

           Jason Lehmkuhle, Antonio Vega, Michelle Frey
               to Run the Boston Marathon on April 19;
             Meghan Armstrong at Mt. SAC Relays April 16
 
Minneapolis/St. Paul - April 13, 2010 - Three Team USA Minnesota distance 
runners - Jason Lehmkuhle, Antonio Vega and Michelle Frey - will be 
among the elite field at the 114th Boston Marathon on Monday, April 19.  
The Patriot's Day event, with a field of 25,000 participants, starts in 
Hopkinton, goes through eight cities and towns and finishes in Boston's 
Back Bay.  Competitors will be vying for a prize purse of $806,000.
 
Lehmkuhle and Frey (formerly Lilienthal) have raced at Boston previously, 
with Vega making his first appearance at this marathon.  Lehmkuhle has a 
best of 2:12:54 in the marathon which he set at the 2008 U.S. Olympic Men's 
Marathon Trials where he placed fifth.  In the 2004 U.S. Olympic Marathon 
Trials, he was ninth overall.  His marathon credentials most recently 
include sixth place at the USA Men's Marathon Championship in New York last 
November.  So far in 2010, Lehmkuhle has won the Mercedes Half Marathon in 
Birmingham on Feb. 14, placed fourth at the USA 15k Championships on March 
13 in a personal best time of 43:58, and posted 29:05 at the Crescent City 
Classic 10k on April 3.
 
Vega has competed in two marathons to date, both of which were the 
Medtronic Twin Cities Marathon where last October he posted a best of 
2:15:45.  In 2010, Vega's training and racing have come together starting 
with his win at the USA Half Marathon Championships on Jan. 17 in a 
personal best time of 1:01:54, an eighth place finish at the USA Cross 
Country Championships on Feb. 13, and third place at the USA 15k 
Championships on March 13 in a personal best time of 43:55.  Most recently, 
at the Crescent City Classic 10k on April 3 he posted 28:47 as a final 
tune-up prior to Boston.
 
Frey has a best in the marathon distance of 2:35:51, a mark she set at the 
2006 USA Women's Marathon Championships at Twin Cities where she placed 
fourth.  Additional credentials include fourth place at the 2009 USA 25k 
Championships and third at the 2007 25k Championships in a personal best of 
1:29:53 in the distance, along with third place at the 2007 USA Half 
Marathon Championships in a best of 1:12:42.  In 2010, as part of her 
preparations for Boston, Frey has competed at the USA Half Marathon 
Championships, the USA 15k Championships and won the Cowtown Half Marathon 
on Feb. 27.
 
Mt. SAC Relays - April 16
Meghan Armstrong will open her 2010 outdoor track season by 
competing in the 5000 meters at the Mt. SAC (San Antonio College) Relays on 
April 16.  The evening distance carnival will be held at Hilmer Lodge 
Stadium Track on the Walnut, Calif. campus.  Last year at the Mt. SAC 
Relays, Armstrong posted a personal best of 15:41.09 in the 5000.
