               Weekend Road Closures for Toronto Marathon 

   TORONTO, Oct. 13 /CNW/ - A series of road and lane closures and
intermittent delays will take place on Sunday, October 15 to accommodate 
the Toronto Marathon and other races.

    The Toronto Marathon
    --------------------

    Sunday closures and intermittent delays:

    The main segment of the race will take place on Yonge St. between 
Steeles Ave. and Lake Shore Blvd. Various road and lane closures will occur 
in the following areas from 3 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday to accommodate the 
race:

    -   the area bounded by Steeles Ave., Willowdale Ave., Highway 401 and
        Allen Road/Dufferin St.
    -   the area bounded by Highway 401, Mount Pleasant Blvd., Bloor St. 
and Bathurst St.
    -   the area bounded by Bloor St., the Don Valley Parkway, the Gardiner
        Expressway and Bathurst St.

    Queen's Park Circle/University Ave. will also be closed from Bloor St. 
to Lake Shore Blvd. (The finish line of the race is at Queen's Park 
Circle).
    For motorists travelling east or west, Highway 401, Bloor St. and the
Gardiner Expressway are alternate routes.
    To accommodate the Toronto Marathon and the closure of the 
Bayview/Bloor ramps, Bayview Ave. will be closed between Pottery Rd. and 
Rosedale Valley Rd. from 8:30 a.m. until 4 p.m. Don Valley Parkway, 
Broadview Ave., and Bayview Ave. north of Pottery Rd., are alternate 
north/south routes.
    The public is encouraged to use public transit (TTC and GO) as a
convenient, alternative choice whenever possible.
