Press Release - Turin Marathon - 6/13/11

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Turin, A City That Offers A Run Around History

The first marathon held in Turin was back in 1897 and it is a little known
fact that it is one of the oldest in the world. Turin a beautiful city,
Italy's first capital and birthplace of the nation is today vibrant with
many outstanding tourist attractions and museums.

The principal city of Piedmont, was renovated and modernized for the 2006
Winter Olympic Games and although less well known than other classic
Italian tourist destinations Turin is interesting for its culture, history
and food and wine, and is a place of discovery for those with a passion for
running.

What is special about the TURIN MARATHON "LA STAMPA" Grand Prix is that the
marathon route is a complete circuit with the start and finish in the
impressive main plaza Piazza Castello. This square in the heart of the city
has a wonderful atmosphere and the baroque architecture is remarkable. From
here runners are taken to the banks of the river Po and the towns of
Moncalieri, Nichelino, Beinasco, Orbassano, Rivalta, Rivoli and Collegno,
finally returning to the centre of the city via a long easy stretch,
slightly in descent, just at the crucial point of the race. A real break
for tired legs!

This 42 km race is listed in the international calendar of the IAAF and
has the Silver Road Race seal it is renowned worldwide for its excellence
and organization.

There are also two other events for friends and families. The STRATORINO
event, a 7.5 kilometre run or walk through the historic part of the city
and the Junior Marathon, a short children's race of just over a kilometre
which crosses the actual finish line. The money raised for these two events
is given to the "Specchio dei Tempi" Foundation and used for charitable
works in Italy and abroad. The TURIN MARATHON is scheduled for Sunday 13th
November 2011 and thus is bound to attract runners who can use this event
to raise funds for their chosen charity and experience running in the cool
autumnal climate.

The city is very easily accessed by rail, via Paris, or air taking
advantage of low-cost airlines that use the city airport. Hotels are
plentiful with accommodation to suit all.
