Press Release - USA Track & Field - 11/10/10

                    Flanagan Named Athlete of the Week 

INDIANAPOLIS – Shalane Flanagan has been named USA USA Track & Field's 
Athlete of the Week after winning the 2010 USA Women's Marathon 
Championship Sunday at the ING New York City Marathon. 

The 2008 Olympic 10,000m bronze medalist, Flanagan turned in the highest 
place finish by an American woman at the ING New York City Marathon in 20 
years, placing second in 2:28:40 and winning the 2010 USA Women's Marathon 
Championship.  

Now in its ninth year, USATF's Athlete of the Week program is designed to 
recognize outstanding performers at all levels of the sport. USATF names a 
new honoree each week and features the athlete on the USATF website. 
Selections are based on top performances and results from the previous 
week.
