DENVER, Colo. -- December 15, 2005 – The new Denver Marathon™ is excited
to unveil today its spectacular route designed by Race Director Dave
McGillivray and his Denver Marathon operations team that highlights the
cultural diversity of Denver’s communities by incorporating a mix of urban
neighborhoods, shopping and restaurant districts, city parks and
residential areas. The first race of its kind in Colorado, this world class
marathon is scheduled for Sunday, October 15, 2006.

The race course will start in front of the State Capitol, travels past many
of Denver’s major landmarks such as the Denver Public Library and the
Denver Art Museum, loops through LoDo (lower downtown) including Larimer
Square, Pepsi Center, Union Station and Coors Field, and winds through
City, Cheesman and Washington Parks and their neighborhoods creating a
community-wide celebration throughout the city. The final stretch will take
runners down Denver’s art district on Santa Fe Drive past the Museo de las
Americas to the finish line and a post-race festival in Civic Center Park.

"Larimer Square is flattered to be included on the Denver Marathon course,"
said Margaret Ebeling, marketing director for Larimer Square. "Our shops
and restaurants completely support this event and feel that the addition of
the race to our district enhances our position as Denver’s Main Street.
This race is an exciting newcomer to the downtown landscape, and we fully
extend our commitment to the Denver Marathon and its participants."

The course is flat and has little to no elevation change and will be
certified by USA Track & Field as a qualifier for the Boston Marathon.
Effective today, detailed course maps will be available online at
www.denvermarathon.com.

"We are pleased to provide traffic control for the Denver Marathon course
that will take runners through a variety of Denver's beautiful
neighborhoods and communities," said Sergeant Steve Spenard, Special Events
Unit of the Denver Police Department Traffic Operations Bureau.
