COURSE: 5 ORGANIZATION: 4 FANS: 5 This was my fifth time in Boston and I will be back next year again. I just love this race - the spectators, the hills, the history, the medal. This year was better organized than any if the previous ones. The only suggestion I have for the race organizers is to get more small- and medium-sized shirts, for when I got to the expo on Sunday mid day, there were only large and x-large. It is Boston, so most runners are not big in size. I was disappointed and so were many other women who were looking for a shirt that actually fits them.... | |

"First-Time Euphoria" (about: 2008)

COURSE: 5 ORGANIZATION: 5 FANS: 5 Boston is everything a runner could ask for: A great course, great spectators, and the weather was perfect. This was my first running of the Boston and I was a bit nervous, but everything fell into place. Those that had run the course before shared tips with me. The expo was not crowded (but I did get there on Saturday at 9 a.m., and was out by noon.) The locals were fantastic and made me and my wife feel welcome everywhere we went. The course had plenty of water and PowerAde. The support of the crowd spurred me on as things got rough, and to the lovely ladies at Wellesley College, I want to say thanks for giving this 50-year-old male the pleasure of kissing a number of you along the course. It was big motivator.... When I got my medal, I started to cry, as the emotions swept over me. I had just finished my first (and hopefully not my last) Boston Marathon. Though I missed qualifying for 2009 by 10 minutes, it was my 2nd best time ever for a marathon. Again, thanks for putting on a great event and I hope to be back in future years. I especially liked the free rides on the "T" after the race. BOSTON ROCKS!! | |

COURSE: 5 ORGANIZATION: 4 FANS: 5 Amazing event; but even after 112 years, some room for improvement. All the positives are well documented - and I concur. The scale of the "Hopkinton invasion" is something to behold; but I still had to wait 40 minutes for a port-a-john. Somehow, organizers need to find more johns for 25K runners. Overall, a terrific event - very close to perfection. | |

It was my first Boston and I hadn't been able to train much due to an injury so I decided to "save" myself for the actual race. The hills were really hard but those fans made all the difference! Thanks to everyone who showed up. The race went very smoothly and I was impressed with the organization. The expo was cramped and there weren't enough port-a-potties on the course, but otherwise it was an awesome day! | |

COURSE: 5 ORGANIZATION: 5 FANS: 5 I ran NYC and the course in Boston blows it away. I spoke with many marathon runners and the word was that this course was easy. I highly disagree since I saw thousands of runners struggling, walking, and cramping. I really felt the hills after mile 15. There was lots of talk about Heartbreak Hill at mile 21; runners beware - for me it was the hill at mile 18 that was in my opinion steeper but shorter. I loved this race and can't wait for next year. This was organized very well, except for the bus ride over, which took a few hours due to traffic. Although, I would rather be on a warm bus than be outside. One recommendation: more porta-pots, please. Everyone was amazing in Boston. Thank you. | |

COURSE: 4 ORGANIZATION: 5 FANS: 4 This was my first Boston Marathon and it was a great experience. I was very impressed with how well-organized it was, and how smoothly everything ran. This was the largest of the previous marathons I'd run, and I'd been concerned about waiting in lines. However, I waited maybe 5 minutes for a bus at Boston Common, and even the port-a-john lines were no worse than at a smaller marathon. Very well done. I also want to thank all the volunteers that help out. I always try to thank them as I grab my cup of water, but I wasn't feeling that great for much of this race and feel bad that I may not always have shown my appreciation. So hopefully some of you may be reading this. Thanks to all the volunteers! | |

COURSE: 5 ORGANIZATION: 5 FANS: 5 I was ambivalent about going to Boston. In general, I just don't get worked up over events that get a lot of hype. And I thought it sounded like a logistical nightmare. I was actually talked into going. But... The organization was fantastic. The course was challenging, and quite scenic. The spectators were unbelievable (they really made me feel like I was participating in something historic - especially the hordes of Wellesley girls!). My only complaints are my own shortcomings for not running smarter. | |

COURSE: 5 ORGANIZATION: 3 FANS: 5 This is THE Boston Marathon. This one is different. To say it is about the charities is to miss the history of the race. It is about qualifying. It is about saying you qualified and you ran Boston. It is now too large and in danger of becoming just another marathon. |
