COURSE: 4 ORGANIZATION: 5 FANS: 4 Wonderful small town race with super organization. Nice course, excellent volunteers and well put on race. Lots to drink (Gatorade too weak) and attention along course. Best race announcer I've heard, whether a 3 hr or 6 hr finisher he was as equally enthusiastic for each runner. My wife's first marathon and maybe 15 for me and we loved it. Only downside is race organizers need to do away with Pace Groups. Runners are a great group but several of the Pace Groups hogged the roads and were very inconsiderate of others. Still a GREAT race and experience. Well Done FVM. | |

COURSE: 5 ORGANIZATION: 5 FANS: 5 I drove 7 hours to run this marathon and it was completely worth it. The course itself is a beautiful one, mainly flat and speedy along the river. There is a small stretch of hills in the full course, but nothing too taxing and the scenery is worth it. There are tons of spectators throughout the whole thing, so if you are looking for a race with encouragement, this is it. Also, I cannot thank enough the people who organized the race - a wonderful group of people. I would gladly run this again, and always refer my running friends to go here. | |

"Scenic Course, Great Coordination" (about: 2010)

COURSE: 4 ORGANIZATION: 5 FANS: 3 The coordination of this event was superb (especially for its first year). Parking prior to the start in downtown St. Charles was about as easy as it gets. The course (90% on the Fox River trail bike path) was beautiful. There probably could have been a few more porta-potties at the start, but that's about my only complaint. The only other factor working against this race is the date... mid/late September weather in Chicago certainly doesn't help your chances of PR'ing. That being said, I would definitely run this again. The number of spectators was decent and the viewing areas/opportunities for spectators were very nice and easy to find (the race website featured a very well laid out spectator guide). | |

Two items to improve for 2011: 1) More mile markers - I may have missed some, but I don't think they were all marked. 2) Availability of GU/gel. Pre-race info indicated it would be at roughly miles 15 and 20. I got some (luckily) at 13, but never saw it again on the course. Otherwise, awesome job! | |

COURSE: 4 ORGANIZATION: 5 FANS: 5 I ran the Fall 20, and as usual, was late to sign up. Dave went above and beyond the call of duty to get me in, and I ran the best 20 miles of my life! Great course, wonderful participation by the community, lots of water and Gatorade - no complaints! I'll do it again next year for sure, and would recommend this race to anyone. | |

COURSE: 5 ORGANIZATION: 5 FANS: 3 I thought the race was well run by organizers who really wanted to run a first-rate race. Although it took me four hours to get to the finish line, the reception there was worth the wait. I will be running again next year. |
