"Challenging course, varied terrain, well organized" (about: 2013)

I led a pace group and really enjoyed the combination of trails and road. This was a difficult course with a significant amount of elevation change. I would estimate the course as being 2-7 minutes slower than a flat straight course depending on the speed and ability of the individual runner. I believe that most locals underestimated the amount of rolling hills that actually mark the course. (I measured close to 800 feet of climb and 900 feet of descent... about the same as the 10 mile loop at Waterfall Glen FP) People need to set their time goals and pace to take into account the difficulty factor of the course... especially on a windy day. The race was super well organized with lots of spectators and volunteers. Logistics were easy! I highly recommend this marathon.

"It was great start and end" (about: 2013)

Race well organized , thought of well but found the spectator cheering missing for a long time .. I guess I'm comparing to Chicago .. The green valley (Death Valley) was a though course.. Loved the dancers and music on Mike 25 as. Was almost ready to give up but got pumped up at a crucial point .. The after race message was great too.

"AWESOME" (about: 2013)

First, the race was well organized, plenty of potter party at the starting line and along the course. The field house to keep runners war is a huge plus yesterday. The starting was great, no wait at all (I was in 2nd wave with the 3:40 pacer). The aid station were well ran and fully stocked. The volunteers are absolutely AWESOME. Never once I felt unsafe running on the road, or feeling lost in the trails.

Second, the course was challenging for the marathon. Specially after mile 19 where the rolling hills really felt like rolling hills. The one at the end was EXTRA brutal. It's definitely a lot more technical course than I expected, a lot of turns (I can probably do without the couple hair pin turns), and a lot of hills at the end made this a real runner's course. Love it!

Third, from spector perspective. My family have been to many races with me. but they have praise this one to be one of the easiest to get around. They like the fact that the course is not an all and back course like fox valley. There were plenty parking and spot to cheer on the runners along the way. The spectators along the way were Awesome. The crowd is definitely smaller than big race, but the energy were there. As a runner, I truely enjoy the little personal connection with the spectators.

Over all, great race and you can expect that I will return next year. Job well done, Naperville.

"Challenging yet worth it" (about: 2013)

The race was so well executed. I appreciated all the volunteers and police all along the way. I would say that the part that just killed my run was the uphill forest preserve. If that continues to be a large part of the race, NRC should specifically had that in their training program. I think a lot of us runners were not prepared for how arduous that would be (and so late in the run!). But, regardless, I was able to smile throughout. Amazing overall!

"Great all around experience with AMAZING support!" (about: 2013)

This was my 1st half marathon and I am so glad that I chose to do it in Naperville! Every little detail was well thought out, planned and executed. I feel as though I received support, encouragement and detailed information from the minute I signed up. The expo was incredibly well organized and there were people every single step along the route to help with anything I needed. The people working were fantastic...just after I finished a volunteer came up to me and said that I looked a little wobbly and asked if he could walk me over to the massage tent. I didn't even realize that I needed it, and his care, knowledge and personal attention (even in a sea of people) really made a difference in my experience. The course was great, the aide stations were great, the expo was great....but the volunteers really made this AMAZING.

"I ran the half marathon and overall it was great." (about: 2013)

I ran the half marathon. Overall the course was good. Slightly more challenging than I thought it would be. There were more hills than I thought. Organization was good. The only thing I was disappointed with is the finish and post race. Felt a little rushed to get through the food tent. After running 2+ hours, not really in the mood to grab a whole bunch of food. I was planning on going cooling off a little and then going back but that wasn't an option.

"Very well organized, nice route, spectators" (about: 2013)

I ran the half-marathon.
It was very well organized, the route was nice and made good use of the prairie. All in all a very good experience.
Good support from the spectators.
Some aid stations could have used more volunteers as they were struggling to keep up with demand.
It would have been nice to run more in the prairie and less on the streets, but on the other hand it was a squeeze on the narrow prairie paths.
