COURSE: 4 ORGANIZATION: 5 FANS: 5 This was my 4th marathon, and I never knew how much fun it could be with screaming fans for nearly the entire 26.2 miles. It was great! This was by far the 'most beautiful marathon' Ive ever run. Besides excellent crowd support, water stops were awesome, very few hills.... I highly recommend this marathon, and will probably return for its 25th anniversary in '06! | |

COURSE: 5 ORGANIZATION: 5 FANS: 5 The 'prettiest urban marathon in the US' lived up to its reputation. A good 18 miles of the course are on 'parkways' -- through urban parks, typically along tree-lined streets with pretty homes on one side and a lake or the Mississippi River on the other side. There were lots of enthusiastic spectators along most of the route, and great aid stations with plenty of volunteers. The very last stretch was especially inspiring -- after passing the impressive St. Paul's Cathedral, you stumble down the hill to the finish at the steps of the state capital, a building intentionally similar to the White House. And the goodie bag was the biggest one I've ever seen! | |

COURSE: 4 ORGANIZATION: 5 FANS: 5 Spectators make this marathon a one to be run again. Organization is very good, from the expo until the finish line. Thanks to all boys and girls in the water stations, thanks to all spectators for oranges and bananas, etc. I recommend this race, not only for the marathon itself, but also for beautiful Minneapolis and St. Paul. As we say in Costa Rica, "Pura vida" (good life) and I´ll be returning in a couple of years! | |

COURSE: 4 ORGANIZATION: 5 FANS: 5 This is the 2nd time I've run this marathon and had a PR the first time. This 2nd time the humidity did me in and I had my slowest time of 9 marathons. However, the crowd is fantastic, scenery is great and the race is very well organized! I recommend this race to anyone! | |

COURSE: 5 ORGANIZATION: 5 FANS: 5 This was my first TCM after Chicago last year. I ran this race based on reviews on this website. I was not disappointed. This race is extremely well run. The expo was not large, but was fairly crowded (Sat. afternoon). No line to get bib. Race morning buses to start were on time and Metrodome was easy to manuever through. The two-wave start was very well done and easy to get into the corrals. As usual, people continue to jump over walls and barricades to get up front. I saw the same in Chicago in the preferred start area. The course itself is very good. I would agree with other posters that it is more hilly than advertised but the elevation chart does not lie. It was hot and humid this year and that in turn made those hills a little tougher. The crowd support was unbelievable. Adults and kids all over the place. For an urban marathon I cannot imagine more people. I was trying to figure out how they got to where they were on the course in some places. Finish line organization was great. Nice not to have someone taking your chip off the second you cross the finish. They put the chip cutters toward the back so you could get something to drink and eat and not have to try and balance on the board getting your chip off. Nice field to relax in before heading out into the crowd to find family. Overall very well done. My only negative would be the spacing of aid stations early in the race. I have been used to aid every mile or close to it in other races. It was warm this year and would have been nice having the chance for water/aid every mile. Overall, a great race. Perfect size. Good location. Great support. Maybe not the best PR course. But everyone should do this race once. I would NOT stay in St. Paul if doing this race again but would stay in Minneapolis. | |

"WOW... Big-Time Crowds and a Great Course! " (about: 2005)

COURSE: 5 ORGANIZATION: 3 FANS: 5 This was everything it purports to be. Beautiful course. 250,000 spectators, loads of support, and the best expo I have ever seen. The hills at mile 17 were a challenge but that's be expected. Th only downside was a HORRIBLE JOB by the starting line director. Corrals were mis-matched and start line volunteers were clueless. Two gun starts in a race??? What's that??? I really would love to return. Great people. A top-10 race (despite my start line comments). | |

COURSE: 5 ORGANIZATION: 5 FANS: 5 My husband and I both ran the TCM as our first marathon and we were not disappointed. The course was spectacular. Running from Minneapolis to St. Paul was the best way to see how beautiful urban Minnesota is. The spectators lined the course and were encouraging and supportive all the way to the end. They helped runners by handing out water, oranges, apples, candies and cheers. The race itself was so well organized. There were frequent water stops, toilets and medics. Furthermore, the course entertainment was fantastic for a little boost. The course was a little hilly, but the only major hill came at the end of the race. I enjoyed my first marathon experience at TCM and highly recommend it as a great running experience. | |

COURSE: 5 ORGANIZATION: 5 FANS: 5 This was my first marathon and I was very impressed with the fans and the organization of the race. I want to thank the lady who gave me a Jolly Rancher at mile 23; you made my day. Then I want to thank the lady that watched me drop my Jolly Rancher and kick it across the street. I will always remember you saying, 'I totally feel your pain!' There were so many supporters that I didn't feel like I was running alone. People helping and cheering the entire 26.2 miles, something I didn't think would be possible. The only problems I saw had to do with the finish. They ran out of t-shirts for those finishing after 5:30, but were quick to act and let the runners know they would mail them their t-shirt. I also think the post-race party was still going when they shut it down at 2:00 (6 hours after the start of the race). I don't think many, including myself, were done. I chose to wait for my wife to finish and missed out on some of the food and post-race entertainment. | |

COURSE: 5 ORGANIZATION: 5 FANS: 4 On pace for 3:24 until the hills of the 20-23 mile mark. Still finished with a PR of 3:44, so I was happy. Fargo doesn't give me much for hill training so I'm going to have to work that out now that I've seen a hilly course. Awesome course though, and was run on a nice day. Will run again! | |

COURSE: 4 ORGANIZATION: 5 FANS: 5 This was my backup marathon in the event I didn't get in New York, and what a great backup it was! Absolutely loved the whole experience from the expo (moderate size but adequate), the pasta party, the helpful and friendly volunteers, the enthusiatic and encouraging spectators, the fun and spirited music along the course, the excellent organization, the varied and scenic course (it's not flat but I didn't think it was that hilly), the nice post-race party with lots of goodies, including hot pizza! My only complaint was the weather. Coming from Texas where most of my training was done in hot and humid weather, I was looking forward to running in cooler temps; however, Mother Nature didn't cooperate, and I'll just have to return next year in hopes of getting that perfect weather! |
