It has been the worst experience. I can't believe that a place like LA has a course that really stinks. An uphill run through 12 miles? Why?

The course was great! It was wonderful to see residents volunteer their time and give water and food to participants.

From Hollywood, to the very commercial produce district all the way into hitorical downtown.... This is what Los Angeles is all about! If you didn't like the commercial districts because you thought they were dirty, then tough cookies, because whether you appreciate it or not, this is what L.A is....

I believe that the course had plenty of sights to offer to the out-of-towners. This was an amazing experience... it was very well organized, with plenty of water stations, and the spectators were very encouraging. I LOVED IT!

Chicago, New York and Boston... learn from them. LA doesn't have the spirit.

Running the L.A. Marathon was an extremly positive experience. I enjoyed seeing the many landmarks along the route. The watering stations were abundant thoughout the course, and emergency officials and homeowners (along the route) help in cooling down runners by use of hoses and fire hydrants. Volunteers and spectators provided encouragement during the entire race. The organizers, volunteers and citizens of Los Angeles should be proud of themselves for putting on such a first-class event! Hope to run it again next year! Thank you!

I loved everything because everything was so well organized. They offered a lot of supplies for you on the course. The course was ok, and the sights were good, but there were a lot of turns, and the last 6 miles of the course ran through a ghetto of sorts.

This race is just wrong. The course is horrible, the weather is hot, and the fans don't want a marathon going through their neighborhoods. If you want to feel completely underwhelmed, then run the LA Marathon. I'll never lace up my running shoes for this marathon again, even if they pay me!

As a long-time resident of Los Angeles, and participant in the 2007 LA Marathon, I was completely disappointed with the course selection. Why were participants subjected to the filthiest, most putrid, most dilapidated sections of the city? The LA Marathon ranks as one the top ten (10) events in the US, yet fellow Angelenos and visitors were shown the most inhospitable area(s) close the finish line. The one pleasant experience, was the view of the skyline crossing the Sixth Street Bridge (over the Los Angeles River). Please reconsider selecting another "end" course for 2008. On the other hand, it was exciting; volunteers were good, and the organizers, I'm sure, had a daunting task... "kudos." Hats off to METRO (my former employer - I'm retired) for transporting thousands of participants. I hope politicians and church-goers will give us one Sunday of the year to exhibit our exuberance for being physically capable of enduring a grueling 26.2 miles of running and walking through the city we call home.

"OH, THE HEAT... >: (" (about: 2007)

I was really hoping to break four hours, and I'm sure I could've, but THE HEAT really got to me, much too early in the game, and I was shy by a few minutes.

I didn't mind the initial uphill start and enjoyed the declines that soon came afterwards, but I did mind the gradual inclines at the end in the final stage of the race, where I'm already depleted of any extra energy and power to finish as strong as I could.

My Garmin GPS read a total of 26.7 miles for the same exact time! I thought I had finished under 4, according to my watch, but the chip read different. :(

Crowds were basically absent during the middle of the course, but overall, I enjoyed running through the different parts of LA (the good, the bad, the ugly - it is what is, and I love LA's diversity) and thought this course was slightly easier than last year's (or perhaps I'm just stronger overall this year).

I just couldn't deal so well with the heat.... I would most strongly suggest starting earlier like around 6:00 a.m., or at least 7.

Thank you to the volunteers, crowds, organizers. I am looking forward to running my 3rd LAM next year to reach a PB of breaking four hours. I must. (I have considered doing a flatter course to meet this goal, but I am determined to break it under LA's more challenging course.)

"This is my first one. It will always be special." (about: 2007)

I was surprised to see so many bad reviews on this year's marathon. Perhaps because it was my first one, I thought it was the best thing ever.

I wish the spectators could have peeled the bananas they were handing out. It was scary dodging banana peels all over the road. I think that's my only complaint about them. Other than that, they were very supportive and sweet.

Organization? I think there could have been more porta-potties. I had to wait in a 10-minute line to do my thing. Perhaps some more first-aid people walking around. I couldn't identify any in the crowd of spectators. I had to ask many people about getting some Band-Aids. Since I couldn't find any, I resorted to calling my family on my cellphone to see if they could meet me at mile 19 to provide some first aid.

I really felt the support of the LA community though. It touched my heart to see so many people out there for their loved ones.

The course was fun. I was really glad it went past the Staples Center and the convention center. Koreatown seemed to have the best crowds. Some parts were a bit scary to run through, but I still think Los Angeles is a beautiful city. I love LA.
