"Enjoyable 3 lap course and a really cool medal" (about: 2012)

COURSE: 3 ORGANIZATION: 2 FANS: 4 A beautiful crisp morning 3c. No trouble parking, no trouble collecting my chip and checking a bag. The hardest thing to find was the starting line. I never saw a chip/timing mat. I did see a red line spray painted across the road so I started my watch. The course starts off meandering through a housing estate complete with 20somethings wandering around having a few beers at 10:30am. It then heads out to the countryside which is nice enough but the course is not closed to traffic. I don't mind this. Few but enthusiastic supporters (again not important to me). Great aid stations and awesome marshals (especially the soldier on the long straightaway near the park) he was great at offering encouragement. Very nice medal and Luton marathon beanie cap.

COURSE: 4 ORGANIZATION: 4 FANS: 4 I enjoyed this marathon very much it's well organized, good start and well supported finish the 3 laps offer the chance of a pb and don't feel too repeatative. You get a nice medal and goody bag at the finish plus the start & finish are within walking distance of the train station. I would do this again.

COURSE: 4 ORGANIZATION: 5 FANS: 4 Well organized event, makeing good use of paths and roads in a great 3-lapper and possible PB course. A little traffic building up by the 3rd lap, but well marshaled. Great support at finish.

COURSE: 5 ORGANIZATION: 5 FANS: 5 The support from the marshals, police, St. John's ambulances and the people manning the water and sponge stations was first-class and the weather was good this time. Also, the general atmosphere and support from the other runners was encouraging.

"Cool event" (about: 2004)

| 1 Luton Marathon
COURSE: 3 ORGANIZATION: 4 FANS: 1 A low-key marathon, but with excellent runner camaraderie. Three-lap undulating course, which is not as boring as it sounds, as you got through a variety of environs (park, country roads, housing estates etc.). A relay event is run at the same time and these runners can really help you get around. No support to speak of. The marshalling was superb, which was very helpful as the course was not closed to traffic. Cups, not bottles, and expect miserable weather. For a very small entry fee, t-shirt, medal, goody bag are excellent.

"Brilliantly organized, superbly marshaled." (about: 2004)

COURSE: 3 ORGANIZATION: 5 FANS: 3 I travelled down from North Wales to run in this marathon - a distance of 155 miles each way. The journey was well worthwhile for a tremendously well organized event. I would like to thank the brilliant team of helpers and marshals - everyone I met was incredibly friendly and supportive. The medal, T-shirt and goodie bag were all superb and I don't know how you do it at the modest entry price that you charge. Once again, thanks to everyone for a superb race.

"Nice way to end the year" (about: 2003)
COURSE: 3 ORGANIZATION: 4 FANS: 1 Three laps, partly through countryside, partly on roads which remain open to traffic. Two significant hills on the course which are long rather than steep, sapping rather than punishing. Good-sized field bolstered by relay runners so you won't get lonely out there. Sparse crowds but good support from the marshalls. Enjoyable.

"3 laps of the same scenery" (about: 2002)
COURSE: 3 ORGANIZATION: 4 FANS: 3 A fast course, but featureless. Nice atmosphere though and a good end-of-year, flat marathon. T-shirt ok, standard medal - same each year. |
