Race Details

Course is challenging, historic, point-to-point AA certified course starting from Sydney Town Hall and finishing at the Blacktown Olympic Centre. Midway the course gets tougher as gradual incline takes runners towards the City of Blacktown. The remaining 12km undulates as it reaches the Blacktown Olympic Park in Rooty Hill.

Quite a hilly one but they tend to be long rather than steep. Point-to-point course from central Sydney with not all roads closed but good police protection from wheeled nasties. Support was pretty thin and the whole thing was quite low-key which can be nice, although you do get cheered on at the beginning by inebriated Sydneysiders still queing to get into nightclubs at 6am (quite funny at the time). Not that many runners so you may get a little lonely at times. If you're looking to do your first marathon in Sydney, consider doing the Sydney marathon in October instead but this one is fine nonetheless. Be warned that the nearest train station from the finish is a bit of a trek.
