This was my first marathon run. It was brilliantly organized. marshalls were awesome as they kept on cheering runners. I really loved it as i ran to support a charity and derived a huge satisfaction after completing it. Well done the organizers. I am coming back...

My first full marathon. Absolutely loved it. Pit stops were well managed. On site registration can be better organised

Busy first 3 miles, then gets quiet, then come back into the city for the last mile through the shopping streets.

Marshalls were brilliant they all clapped and cheered, were very helpful. The 13 mile loop the full do on top of the half course is through the countryside so quite quiet. But no problems getting lost.

The last km is up a steep hill. it's a bitch but hey it's right at the end and once it's out of the way you are there at the finish line.

I loved it, and am coming back.

Good route with the occasional hill. Lovely and scenic through the water park and good support when the route was inner-city. Well organised and good fun!

"undulating, boring course, but well organized" (about: 2009)

This was my fifth marathon, and the most boring!! I agree with the comments that spectator support was terrible and the run contained some hills, especially 25-26 mile. Water was in plastic cups, so you wore more than what you drank. Left baggage was well organized, but there could have been more fun/family atmosphere; it's 26.2 miles, after all! I got a PB of 3:13, but I had the potential for much better - if not for so many sharp turns, hills and narrow pathways.

This was my first marathon so I was pretty apprehensive before the start, but everyone was so friendly that I was soon at ease. I thought that the organization was excellent, with plenty of marshals who, along with the spectators, gave great vocal support. I had a bit of puff left, so the last hill was a bonus!

I don't think that we should expect people out shopping who may have no interest in running to cheer for us.

"Not quite as flat as suggested" (about: 2009)

11-50 previous marathons

I ran this marathon with the temptation of a PB. It was slightly more undulating than initially suggested, and although none of the hills were very significant, they still took it out of the legs. Also, it seemed to be a little wayward and circuitous toward the final two miles (as though they needed to add distance). The Leicester public seemed to consider the marathon as more of an inconvenience than a pride to host. I ran my best time this year (3:18) but would not repeat the run. I would not put off others who are interested, though, because it's for good cause unlike some other, more expensive (non-charity runs).

This was the first time I have ever been stopped by a level-crossing in a race, but top marks to the organizers for thinking ahead and arranging the chip timing to take account of this. Well done!!

It could be a good run with a few tweaks; otherwise it's fairly average, with little sense of a big occasion!

"Come on, Leicester - show your support!!!" (about: 2009)

4-5 previous marathons | 1 Leicester Marathon

A great place to start and finish, the last two miles through the city center were fantastic. It would have been great to have some more support through the city though rather than a parade of blank-looking faces with no applause whatsoever.

It was on a fairly boring route and it definitely doesn't show Leicester off at its best. The long run out along Melton Road was good, but long stretches of county lane was fairly boring and downright hilly in parts too. The last few miles through Watermead Park and Abbey Park were pretty, but on narrow undulating track.

It has the potential to be a great marathon, but more running needs to be done around the city center, taking in the sights such as Walkers Stadium, Welford Road and the Lanes, etc. They could learn a lot from the Nottingham Robin Hood Marathon about showing a city off at its best.

it was a great day for the race, and a better course than last year's. And it was good to run through the city center.

Hats off to the hardy souls who manage the full marathon. Having completed the half for the second time, I have to say the course is challenging, with some good hills. The organization is superb, the marshals did a fantastic job in the freezing conditions, and the support was much appreciated all the way round. Despite the hills, still managed a PB. Will definitely be back, and may one day brave the full.
