"This has to be the best." (about: 2004)

I first ran this H.M. in 2003, and I can honestly say I enjoyed every step of the way. The only fault is the traffic and maybe the goodie bag at the end. This course has something for every runner. I will be a regular every year. The price is a bargin £11.00.

F. S. from Ilkley (5/16/2004)
"Far too many cars on the route" (General Comments)

Wake up, Leeds. This could be a money spinner if you gave the runners a good day and the spectators a good program. CAN'T YOU EVEN FOR ONE DAY ban cars on the route? Why must we breathe in car and bus fumes? It made me sick. There is little regard for the runners from the motorists.

Also, please enter this millenium and allow us to record a real time with a shoe chip. The timing is really archaic.

Graham Melrose from London, England (6/4/2003)
"A tough, hilly course" (about: 2003)

COURSE: 3  ORGANIZATION: 4  FANS: 4

Two-lap course, half-marathon and full marathon are both set off together - making for a lively first lap. The second lap was a lot quieter, but still well supported with regular drinks and sponge stations. City-center start and finish, and some longish hills, although not terribly steep. The Leeds ring road for around 20% of the course is a little soulless and boring. Good fast run over last few miles, but a cheeky little hill right at the end. Although not a PB course (and despite some hip impingement), managed to get to 20 miles in 2:17:30 - took advantage of the fast run in to finish in a new PB 2:58:39.
