I ran the Boone Spring Marathon on April 3, 2010. The race director is a wonderful fellow who jumped through the hoops to make it count for 50 states. The course is a slightly rolling 3.75-mile out-and-back in the beautiful high country of NC. Cool temperatures. Scenic route that repeatedly crosses a river (via bridges) including a covered bridge. Water every mile. Flush toilets ever 3.75 miles. Wonderful company from the small cadre of other runners. The race director and several other runners each ran with me for at least a mile, with warm conversation. I finished the race knowing everyone by name. How cool is that? I'd love to do another Boone Marathon.
