Race Organizer

Woolly 1/2 Marathon, Marathon, & 50k (12/2/13)

The Woolley runs are ran on a "rails to trails" gravel trail from west to east (& back) along side of the Skagit River. The idea to put on this event was hatched during a long Skagit Runners group run in the summer of 2007. It's a spectacular trail, we saw a baby Elk during the run, Llamas, signs of Beaver, Bison, & Deer. This is meant to be a low key fun event. The price is low, the aid stations are stocked, you get a nice lunch and BS session at the finish. It just doesn't get much better than that. We will limit the participants to 200 due to parking availability.
Hope to see you out there.

Great event all around. The organizers did a great job. Course was flat and stress free. Aid stations were like a mini-mart. Kudos to the volunteers who hang out all day to help. The icing on the long run was the BBQ hot dogs at the finish. Awesome weekend.

This was very low-key, yet provided much more in amenities than other races that charge 3 times, 4 times or even 5 times more. The aid stations were well-stocked with typical ultra-running fare (pretzels, gummy bears, Coke, Gatorade, water, potato chips, etc.) and the volunteers were stellar. The chicken soup and chili dogs after the race were just what I needed to replenish the calories lost.

This was the inaugural year of Woolley, and we really lucked out with the weather. It was a gloriously sunny day - can't beat that! The course is a mixture of dirt and gravel, and it's basically flat. Looking forward to running this again next year.
