"Still Poorly Organized and supported" (about: 2011)

I ran the 1/2 marathon. Second year and still a fiasco. Most of the lead runners took a wrong turn in the first mile that added up to a half mile extra. No excuse for not having staff direct the pack. Also, no split times anywhere on the course. It cost me $152 for two people to enter. Not again.

WOW! It was fun last year BUT they went all out this year! MORE than enough water tables and the finishline (neat food box) as well as pleanty of other neat stacks - well I was proud to be a part of it and proud to know many of the Speeders and others folks there. See you next year!!

Volunteers were GREAT; The race was disorganized; Race map not online & half the field went off-course, following lead vehicle; Water was in shot glass size cups; medals cheap, awards cheaper, no real food after race except milk & Cliff bars. Just seemed like a lot of money for a race that really cut corners

This was the first year for this marathon, and even with a few small things "not just right" (late start, one area with no water, etc.) folks like the SPEEDSTERS and WEEKEND WARRIORS touched my life in a mighty way. Runners like them bring the sport of running to the highest level, showing what it is really all about! I look forward to the marathon next year! ( :

"Great half, awful full." (about: 2010)

Sometimes marathon organizers should start small. The half marathon of the Mangrove Marathon was well organized and it was a very nice course, but after 13.1 everything went down hill. There was obviously a major organizational gaffe after 13.1 miles, because there were very few water stops and no gels, and just when you needed them most. I hope that a greater effort is made in the future to get more of the community and schools involved because there were really no spectators. It was too expensive for a first-time marathon, and it really wasn't worth it.
