COURSE: 1 ORGANIZATION: 1 FANS: 1 I traveled 700 miles to run this trail run. It sounded good right. I have done 33 marathons. The Northface Challenge 50K and the JFK 50 miler four times. This was the worst race I have ever run. I paid $80.00 to run.The runners were informed 10 minutes before the race that the course had to be changed to a double out and back marathon. This could have been emailed to all the runners in advance as I do not believe this was a last minute call. The tee shirt was a cheap cotton. I walked the first half with a friend to help him finish. The course was terrible and my friend fell twice. There were no Port-O-Johns on the course and I saw female runners going to the bathroom in the woods. I did finish the race after walking a 5 hour half with my friend and finished the marathon near the end of the pack. When I finished I was given a cracked piece of wood on a string as a medal. This was outrageous. I would never do this race again and will share the race details with all runners I encounter I think you cut too many corners at this race just to make money. I am heading to Illinois in a few weeks to run the Des Plains marathon. I was really dissapointed that I ran your race. Dave Heintzelman | |

"Fun, small, trail marathon" (about: 2011)

COURSE: 4 ORGANIZATION: 4 FANS: 2 I really enjoyed this race to the hilt. As a local, the start was only 10 minutes from my house and we ran on the Wabash Heritage Trail along the Wabash River. I run this trail regularly in training, so it was familiar turf. Weather was PERFECT and so that helped. A small marathon field, only about 50. I gave the course 4, not 5 stars, only because we did the same loop twice. In 2012, they will run the full length of the WHT, which will be better. Fun race, good people organizing. This race deserves good support. |
