"Awesome tough run!" (about: 2012)

COURSE: 5 ORGANIZATION: 5 FANS: 2 I am a back of the pack runner but the race director was AMAZING! I was the LAST one in and he even saved food for me! The people at the turn around even waited for me and helped me to refill my bottle! The 5 Star timing people waiting were soo nice as well! The race director kept checking on me to make sure I was doing ok! The marathon is BRUTAL First 9 miles is UPHILL! BIG hills! After that it's mostly downhill. The scenery did not disappoint. The colors were amazing and the people in town (go to Jan's for a good pasta meal) were fabulous. We stayed at the Topaz which was right across the street from the race start. I think I'd have to train better before trying it again but it was a GREAT challenge!

COURSE: 4 ORGANIZATION: 4 FANS: 2 First two-thirds of course was on dirt roads, amazing scenery. Lass third was on paved road. Lots of signs warning cars. Thanks to all the great aid station volunteers. Your energy carried me through. This was a wonderful first marathon.

"Not supported for slower runners, 4.5 or later" (about: 2011)

| 1 Autumn Color Run
COURSE: 2 ORGANIZATION: 2 FANS: 1 First six miles are a steep uphill, first half of race on trails, nice, but last portion on side of highway, scary. No signage to warn about runners. Pulled mile markers 4 hrs into race, carry your own food/water-aid stations weak near end. Pasta bar and bands at finish were non-existant, only 2 people present & slice of pizza. Pretty race in the beginning, but lack of support for slower runners and safety concerns, means I won't do this one again. |
