COURSE: 5 ORGANIZATION: 5 FANS: 4 In my previous review I mentioned that there was no prize-giving ceremony - I was however contacted by the race director and the prizes/trophies are actually being posted out- overall as I said a good experience. | |

"Tough but enjoyable" (about: 2014)

COURSE: 5 ORGANIZATION: 5 FANS: 4 If you sre looking for a niche marathon this may the be the one for you. The 10k , half and full marathon all start together. The half marathon consists of one loop of a hilly course, if you are doing the full , which I did, you get to run the loop twice. The course is challenging and if I were to compare it to Connemara it is a lot hillier. The route is entirely rural and very picturesque. The supporters are few but vocal - I spent a lot of my time running alone on country roads - which I enjoy - if you dont like the solitude this may not be for you. The t-shirt and finishers medal are good and there was a physio rub down at the end which was a good touch. I noted on the website that there was a trophy or prize for the winner but I didn't witness any prize giving on the day and I finished in the top three- maybe just an oversight. Overall I would rate it as a good experience in a beautiful and rugged part of Ireland - I would consider running it again next year |
