"Nice Run in Country" (about: 2012)

COURSE: 3 ORGANIZATION: 4 FANS: 3 For such a small race they really do a good job. Great volunteers. The views of the Tetons were great. The course was not marked so the fast folks missed some turns at first but everyone yelled and got them back on course. The post race was more for kids from the town instead of the runners but that's OK. The hand made finisher's metal (ceramic shoe) was cool!

"Awesome scenery" (about: 2012)
11-50 previous marathons
COURSE: 5 ORGANIZATION: 4 FANS: 4 Course was beautiful running toward the Tetons. My only issue was all support was pulled at 4 1/2 hrs and I was at mile 19. I appreciated the ambulance personnel who stopped and gave me water at 23 miles. Finish line was down when I completed at 6:27 as was the rest of the support. The website needs to be more specific on race timing and not pull course support just because most of the runners had completed

"The backdrop of the Tetons made the race!" (about: 2010)

| 1 Tin Cup Challenge Marathon
COURSE: 5 ORGANIZATION: 5 FANS: 5 Driggs, Idaho turns out to host a community event that has at least 3 volunteers for each runner. I was one of 28 runners finishing the race. I hadn't planned on doing this race as I was signed up to do the Deseret Race in Salt Lake City, Utah the following weekend, and am trying to run marathons in the 50 states, so when I heard about the race on the radio I decided to sign up. This race has it all. The medal was made by the high school art class out of glazed ceramic. The age group top three placers had a choice of charities to donate their prize money to. I donated mine to a horse rescue. The town turned out for a festival in the park afterwards. The half-marathon had a respectable turnout, but I enjoyed the attention and relationships that the marathon runners shared. The Tetons to the east of Driggs made spectacular running companions as the cold sun rose. A red tailed hawk circled and cried. As the course twisted through farm fields a horseman joined me for part of the run with his grandson on his lap. If you like smaller runs where the runners are the heroes, this is a must. |
