Great for 2012, even better for 2013 (4/28/12)

Our inaugural 2012 trail half, full, and ultra marathon were great! We plan even more trail running for 2013, and hope to add pre-event camping for out-of-towners. Join us for the only marathon in the Concho Valley!

"Great basic trail run" (about: 2016)

This race was great. Not a big race I think the Heavy rains up till the night before might have kept some fair weather runners home. But the course was muddy in just a few short sections and was very runnable. The organization of the race was perfect and you could tell it was done by runners for runners. This was a real trail run. If you just love trails then do this race. They have water on the course but like they tell you take care of yourself.

"Great trail race for those scared of trails!" (about: 2015)

I have always been scared to run trails because I don't want to get hurt but haven't had any problems on the trails at the San Angelo State Park. It's relatively flat for a trail race but if you're used to very flat running, then there's a couple of really good hills just to keep things interesting. I love this race because it is the most woodsy place in San Angelo by far and if you've never been to West Texas, you'll probably get a kick out of the cactus and dry creek beds throughout the race. Perfect time of year too, it wasn't cold but hasn't gotten too hot yet either. I really liked how energetic all of the volunteers were, especially those helping out at the finish line. It's such a small race that I half-expected to feel like they'd closed up shop when I got in but it wasn't that way at all; people started clapping and there was even some goofball volunteer that was kind of wandering around the food pavilion making sure everyone was coherent.

The race director has really taken great care to see that the runners are made a priority. The custom medals are great. Race food terrific.

"Very Nice little trail Marathon!" (about: 2014)

Very nice little Marathon in West Texas. Well organized, unique trail in West Texas with cactus, dirt, rocks in a desert setting.
Very energetic group of volunteers that seemed to enjoy providing support to the runners. Nice long sleeve technical shirt. For a small race there was a very nice selection of food and treats at the finish.
Atypical, unique Marathon experience that this runner enjoyed.
