"Unique small race" (about: 2015)

11-50 previous marathons | 1 Savage Seven Marathon Day 4
COURSE: 5  ORGANIZATION: 5  FANS: 5

This is a unique small race held outside of Ocala Florida. It's a marathon a day for 7 days. You can do one or more marathons. I just ran one.

The day I ran it there was a very small field of runners, like 16. 10 of whom had completed 300 or more marathons. One of the runners had over 1400 marathon finishes and another had 1128. This was the most concentrated group of dedicated marathoners that I have ever seen. They were very supportive and all knew each other. That alone made it a cool race.

The course was 5 times around a 5 mile asphalt loop in a forested park located in the Ocala National Forest. Lots of mossy oaks, pines and low palm trees line the course. It's a beautiful course in a natural setting with an off the grid feel.

The aid stations are about 2.5 miles apart and it can be really hot and really humid so you may want to carry some fluid.

The race start is a little hard to find so locate it the night before. Don't rely on your phone to find it for you. The hotels in neighboring Silver Springs are dumps so get a decent room in Ocala and drive the extra 10 minutes.
