"Awesome, but challenging" (about: 2013)

COURSE: 5 ORGANIZATION: 5 FANS: 2 The Homm is the most challenging and most beautiful marathon I have run (I have about 30). I am from the Myrtle Beach South Carolina so we have no altitude, so the start at 7800 feet was interesting. I was at the end of a weeks vacation in Park City UT. The initial downhill was amazing and I ran the much faster than I should have. The lack of hill training available made me a novice to these type of hills. After about the first 6to miles the course flattens out to more of what we would call rolling hills/mountains. This continued until mile 22 when we did a turn around and it was mostly downhill until the finish. The scenery was superb! The mountain range gorgeous. The course was well designed for breathtaking views the entire race. I saw contained wildlife, horses, cows and even peacocks. The houses and farms were just as fabulous. The course was extremely well managed. Markings were never in questions. The volunteers were spectacular and more than willing to help in any way. They had a wonderful sense of humor and made the quick stops for fluids or a snack very enjoyable. This is a small marathon. You would run it for the beauty and enjoyment of running, in my opinion. If you have the chance to make it out to Utah, right outside of Salt Lake take the challenge. I am very glad I did and would do it again if matched up with my schedule!!!

"Beautiful downhill run on a nice spring morning" (about: 2012)

COURSE: 4 ORGANIZATION: 4 FANS: 4 This race was excellent! It was a great alternative to the ever-popular Ogden Marathon, and I would definitely prefer this scenic, calm and remote canyon experience to the throngs of people at a huge marathon event. Parking wasn't a hassle, and I LOVED the good quality technical shirts and the bag. Plenty of food/drinks at the finish and along the course. Definitely wish I would have practiced more downhill before running this (similar to the Provo Halloween Half) but overall a great experience that was less of a hassle than some races.

"Beautiful new course" (about: 2012)

COURSE: 5 ORGANIZATION: 4 FANS: 5 I participated in the ROAD-marathon (compared to 2 day Trail + Road combo). It was the inaugural race. In my view the organizers did a fine job, the course was beautiful start to finish and it just joined the list of great Utah marathon courses. Regarding 'fans', it is a mountain and plains course so not many fans but lots of great scenery. Very friendly and encouraging people once you get to town. Worth doing ! |
