"Tough course for those who enjoy solitude" (about: 2015)

The course is beautiful but tough, some long steep hills, both up and down. I had not noticed the >2200 feet elevation gain (and loss) in the course description (entirely my fault). With only 14 marathoner runners plan on some solitude until you start catching up with the 1/2 marathoners. For me this started at about mile 17.

The director and volunteers are all wonderful. I really can not praise them enough. I gave the spectators a 5 star rating. This is only because I brought my own. My wife was able to cheer me on every 2-5 miles throughout the course. If you do not bring your own there are no spectators at all. Again enjoy the solitude.

I was skeptical about having the course open to car traffic but with the exception of one mile near the end there was very little traffic and I was not bothered by it.

Wine is not normally my first choice for an after marathon drink but the ice cold, sparkling Moscato at Silvan Ridge really hit the spot.

For those who do not mind the hills and solitude I would highly recommend this marathon.
