This is one of the best marathons I have run. RD there to watch you and personally encourage you on the out and back x 4 course. Great aid stations with water, gatoraide, food, cookies, milk, ice. Volunteers are awesome as well. Great community for the race.

COURSE: 3 ORGANIZATION: 5 FANS: 1

Ran this race with a friend to check off Maryland from my map. The race director was super nice. Very low key - no frills race. This race is the last of a series.
The course is 4 out-backs on the trail. The trail is quiet and scenic. I saw several deer and other wildlife. Close to the turnaround, there's a large sewer plant. It smells.... :/ You pass it 8 times. You get used to it.
That's my only complaint.

While you're there, visit the Charis Winery, in the small shopping center right next to the towpath. Excellent wine.
