114th Boston Marathon - Complete Coverage

The 114th running of the Boston Marathon will stand in the history books for the course record that was set on the day. As is the case every year - there were many, many stories surrounding this race that contained many of the best marathoners in the world. The Americans were slated to be in place to compete for the win to claim a victory at Boston for the first time in a quarter of a century. But the day did not play out as scripted. The way it did turn out was fascinating nonetheless.

Race Preview Despite the recent news that both top Kenyan four-time Boston Marathon champions Robert Kipkoech Cheruiyot and Catherine Ndereba had withdrawn from the 114th edition of the event due to injuries, there will be plenty of excitement in both the men and women's races The men's race holds promise for the first American victory since 1983 with 2004 Athens Olympics silver medalist and 2009 New York City Marathon champion Meb Keflezighi and 2008 Beijing Games Olympian Ryan Hall in top form. The women's race will feature a field including nine sub 2:26 runners of which three are past Boston champions - Salina Kosgei (2009), Dire Tune (2008) and Lidiya Grigoryeva (2007) - and a rematch between Kosgei and Tune who finished one-two in the closest sprint finish in Boston Marathon history.
