"Great race well organized!" (about: 2018)

This was my first half marathon. The beginner training plan provided through registration prepared me for the race. All my questions were answered through email communication. My kids participated in the kids marathon and they were so proud to sport their medals with me. Really appreciated the organization and great volunteers and also loved the race t-shirt and sweatshirt/hoodie. I am certain this will not be my last marathon. Thanks for a great race experience even with the cold weather!

"Porta potty" (about: 2018)

PLEASE put more porta potties out and SPREAD OUT EVENLY throughout the half and full marathon courses. The lack of these was shocking.

"Great communication, swag and spectators" (about: 2018)

Lots of communication prior to the race, including motivational words. Always great swag, course is good with spectators throughout most of the course. The finish line is the best in all of my races - the smiling faces of FREE children and the gong at the finish line are AMAZING!

"Needs More Toilets On Course" (about: 2018)

4-5 previous marathons | 1 Bryan/College Station Marathon

My biggest complaint with this race is the lack of porta-potties along the half marathon route. After the half and full courses split at mile 4, there was not another toilet until the courses met again on campus. And what's more, there were only THREE. And two were out of toilet paper, and there was a long line (since there hadn't been any toilets in so long).

However, the law enforcement was great--not only looking out for our safety but some also encouraging us. Could use more spectators along course. (Maybe weather affected this?)

The route itself was great. I really enjoyed running through neighborhoods and campus.

This is my 8th BCS Half Marathon. Very well organized and ran with military precision. The volunteers are incredible! In spite of the cold humid weather there were plenty of spectators although not as many as in previous years

"My first BCS Marathon - had a great time" (about: 2018)

Having attended A&M in the 70s, I was looking forward to seeing how the city and school had grown -- and I was blown away. The course takes you through many of my old haunts plus much more. Having a medical sponsor also helps, lots of on-route assistance if necessary.

This race has a lot of turns. My only suggestion would be to make the route more clear for us bottom half guys so we don't have to ask so often, got a bit confusing toward the end.

"EXCELLENT FROM START TO FINISH" (about: 2018)

I signed up for the BCS Half-Marathon because a friend was doing it to complete her goal of running a half in all 50 states. I am so happy she picked this race.

From the moment I signed up there was good communication, weekly training emails, updates on the expo and race day info. Along with emails their Facebook page was informative and also fun.

The swag cannot be beat! Nice race shirt (and for VIPs a very nice thin pullover). A Finisher's hoodie which is soft and warm. Post race food...pizza rollups, breakfast tacos, strawberry tarts, beer, and margaritas!

The Race Director replied to an email I sent 2 months before the race and said if I had issues with my question to find him after I finished and he would take care of my request. He was at the finish line and greeted us all...and he ran in with the final marathon finisher. These personal touches made it even more special.

Not a lot of spectators but I am chalking this up to a COLD morning and still many puddles and mud from two days of rain before the race. I did like the group of spectators that were spinning at mile 3-ish!

Course support was spot on - plenty of water and Gatorade. And they had volunteers with boxes of tissues for us due to the cold temps and wind.

If College Station was closer to my home I would do this race every year.

"Fantastic, must-do!" (about: 2018)

Very well organized, lots of volunteers, fabulous finisher jacket/hoodie and medal. After party is filling as well. The race is done for a great cause and energized a colllege town in a great way. This is home of the largest stadium in Texas, Kyle field, so not your average college town. New amazing hotels and eateries nearby make it super easy to make your race weekend arrangements.

"Relatively flat, semi-rural half-marathon" (about: 2018)

11-50 previous marathons | 1 Bryan/College Station Marathon
COURSE: 5  ORGANIZATION: 4  FANS: 4

Semi-rural suburban half-marathon course was relatively flat, with final miles more interesting due to traversal of Texas A&M University campus. Police controlled cross-traffic well. Spectator turnout was not as motivational as one would find in a big-city half-marathon, but most spectators were very encouraging. Finish chute was inspiring, given many large, color photos of children helped by race's associated charity. Post-finish-line dispersal of medals and finisher clothing was a bit disorganized, with volunteers giving incorrect advice about where to go. Post-finish refreshments were good but could have been better marked.

"Great event, super well organized with a friendly" (about: 2018)

Really enjoyed the day. I've been meaning to run this for a few years and glad to finally make it. All the volunteers and organizers were great. Kudos to all who were out there on race day in that cold wind. It definitely didn't dampen your spirits! Interesting course too. Really liked the first half. The second was a bit more twisty with cones on the outside of bends (I like to run tangents) but very good to get a look at the campus and parts of town. Thanks for a fun day and a great event that did the city, University area, and sponsors proud.
