This is a great small race with wonderful organization for a wonderful charity.

"Well-organized, peaceful marathon" (about: 2017)

This was my 7th marathon, and it was one of my favorites! The weather was perfect (started in the high 30s) and the course was great. It's mostly flat with some rolling hills for variety. It's a nice tour of Bryan and College Station. There are frequent aid stations, and the course is well-marked. The police were very helpful at all intersections. For a small race, the crowd support was excellent. I would highly recommend!

First Marathon

First 1/2 Marathon and I loved it! Will be back next year for the full! Course was well planned, pretty smooth, scenic and easy flat run. Lots of spectators and plenty of encouragement. Course had hydration stations with Gatorade and water, snacks/fuel and multiple aid stations with MD's & RN's right there!

They take such GOOD CARE of their runners! From start to finish, we were encouraged and had our needs met every step of the way. The way to a runner's heart is through the number of port-a-potties you offer along the way, lol - great job, organizers :)

"Not for Serious Runners" (about: 2017)

11-50 previous marathons | 2 Bryan/College Station Marathons
COURSE: 3  ORGANIZATION: 4  FANS: 4

This event is perfect for beginner/novice runners who want to wind through Bryan and the A&M campus and stay for an awesome post race party. Crowd support from the college kids is a little spotty, but very enthusiastic and encouraging when it's there.

For serious runners, it needs serious improvement. Live tracking is nonexistent. Results are posted next day - which is way too late. There are a couple of places on the course where I witnessed unintentional course cutting due to confusing turns.

Runners in the 3 - 3:30 pace group can expect stretches of solo running with no one else in sight (for example the women's winner ran a very modest 3:13 in 2017).

This course is well marked, not too hilly, and always starts on time. Great support by spectators.

I have run this race every year it has been offered and it continues to be one of my favorites. The organizers do an amazing job. The volunteers do a tremendous job both out on the course and at the start/finish. The course is flat and fast. The weather this year was very nice and overall it was a wonderful experience. I have run over 30 marathons across the country and this is one that I come back to every year.

This was my 6th consecutive year running the BCS half marathon. It is worth the 3 hour drive from San Antonio.

The course is pretty flat. (About 200 feet of elevation gain) My favorite section is running through the Texas A&M campus. I loved the weather this year which was 34 degrees with almost no wind.

"Wonderful Marathon" (about: 2017)

2 previous marathons | 1 Bryan/College Station Marathon
COURSE: 5  ORGANIZATION: 5  FANS: 3

This was my second full marathon, but I have run about a dozen half marathons, 3 of which were the BCS Half Marathon (2012, 2013, 2014).

COURSE: The course was comfortable-a few rolling hills but nothing unreasonable. Occasionally I had to be intentional about running on the sidewalk adjacent to the road or right up against the cones because the road sloped that it irritated my ankles. Usually I could find a flat enough strip of road, just had to look for it.

AID STATIONS: Medical stations, water, food, and restroom stations were all very comfortably available. I grabbed water on the move at every station and only had a problem with it being crowded at the very first station while we were still merged with the half marathon crowd.

SPECTATORS: Having run the half marathon 3 times and the full this once, the spectators in the full are significantly less. Especially around the 16-24 mile stretch, spectators thinned out more than I would have expected considering we were on campus and running through neighborhoods.

PARTICIPATION: Marathon participation is thin enough that you don't feel crowded but there are enough runners that you feel like you're a part of something and have that camaraderie.

ORGANIZATION: The communication from the directors is efficient and thorough without flooding your inbox.

EXPO: Expo is small, but for me it is perfect. I knew it would offer what I planned to purchase without the temptation to spend money on a bunch of stuff I don't need. Being small, it kept me from being on my feet all day walking around in a dizzying expo center.

POST-RACE PARTY: BCS Marathon by far has the best post-race party. Included pizza rolls, bkft tacos, sausage on a stick, strawberry tarts, bananas, milk, bagels, margaritas, sangria, 5 beers on tap, etc. I also took advantage of a complementary Elements Massage.

SWAG & OTHER PERKS: BCS also has the best merch (technical shirt, finisher's jacket, and medal). Free pictures is also a great perk, but as of writing this review they haven't been posted yet.
