Pouring rain, twenty degree drop in temperature at start, and STILL the volunteers were there in force to support this event. I was already aware of how focused the director and his team were on the runner experience and now I know that extends to the volunteers as well. Oh, and fireworks at the start this year...what a great touch for the 5 year anniversary...oh and we're not talking a few fireworks for the start, we're talking a complete fireworks show!!

Wow. Just WOW. I'll start by saying this is my 5th time running the BCS marathon or half-marathon. I'm not sure how it's possible, but every year it just gets better and better. From registering for the race, the constant and detailed communication, packet pick-up and expo, last minute information and encouragement, the actual race, and the finish.. it's simply amazing.
Registering: a breeze
Communication: top notch. I never felt 'lost' and always felt like my safety and needs were top priority for the race organizers
Packet pick-up & Expo: plenty of volunteers to usher all the runners and a nice selection of vendors. I didn't take advantage of the specials, but I wish I had!
Communication before the race: EXCELLENT!! The weather this year was very rainy and windy and the organizers kept us informed and pumped for the race.
Race: I ran the half-marathon course this year and thought it was a great mix of neighborhoods and the University campus. I loved all the volunteers along the course (true champs sticking with us in the rainy & windy weather!)
Finish line area: What better way to finish a tough race than a hug from one of the race organizers and enthusiastic children handing out medals! I've always loved that part!
Food: I could have my pick of anything I craved, from fresh fruit, gatorade, water, pizza rolls, tacos, burgers, adult beverages, cakes.. it was fabulous. Great idea to provide us with a small plastic bag to help shield our food from the drizzle as we moved from station to station.
A++++ I will run this race as long as I am able.

I enjoyed it, even with the cold rain. Having done nearly 100 marathons, they probably had the best post-race spread - burgers, pizza rolls, tacos, beer, desserts. You also get 2 tech shirts. The course was pretty flat, no serious hills. Not too much scenery. The one gripe I have was the lack of packet pickup in the morning. I was planning to drive up in the am from Austin, but instead I had to get a hotel just for the packet. I know larger races who provide this option.

Despite the rain & cold, we were kept fully informed and the race went off without a hitch. Great support & 'customer service' throughout including ample water, gatorade, fruit & energy gels. Great enthusiastic support staff.

This was the most incredible race I have ever been apart of. The team who put it together was beyond outstanding, the police officers directing runners and traffic were very encouraging, and the spectators and people manning the aid stations made it a very awesome environment to run in, despite the cold and rain. Also I love how this race made me feel like i was apart of it the whole way through. Overall, I really am glad I chose the BCS marathon and hope to run it again next year.

Loved the wonderful volunteers, and course! Tons of well stocked water/food stations, and loved running around A&M and Kyle Field! The pace teams are friendly, and being greeted at the end of the race by the race director and the beautiful Down syndrome children, just topped the cake!!! Maybe a bigger expo next year?! Thank you for making my first full memorable!!!

Excellent race with tons of water stops. Fireworks were a blast. I felt safe running on this wet course. Tons of people cheering in the rain.

The expo/packet pickup on Saturday had a wonderful flow with great vendors, easy to access the items you need and they were very well organized. With the Texas weather being unpredictable, the race organizers do a great job of routinely emailing runners and updating the Facebook page with updates. Despite the downpour, everything went smoothly and all of the volunteers at the aid stations were great! The spirits of volunteers and runners were high and we had a great time. The post-race swag is great and they do a great job of keeping runners moving after they finish, with no logjam at the finish line. Wonderful job again this year BCS!!

Even though it rained throughout the race, and I didn't PR it was still a great race. Kind people, great spacing on the water stops, a fun run!
