"Excellent race!" (about: 2013)

This race provides so much while still maintaining it's small size. Not only do you get a lot of things from the race but are provided with motivation throughout the training season. The race also gives a lot back and you can feel that the organizers really care about the runners and the causes.

I think my title pretty much says is but in addition to the course being well thought out and just a great run, the people are so nice and welcoming. The race organizers, the spectators, heck... even the people who live in the town are nice. The race is put together so well. I have not run another marathon or race that was this fun! I don't have a complaint. Not one.

"Simply a great race" (about: 2013)

This is simply a great race and for a good cause. The organization is great. The communication about what's happening and what to expect exponentially exceeds any other race I have run in. The course is great and fast. Aid stations are great; post-race is great. I can't really say anything more. I have to travel a few hours for this race, but every time after I run it, I sign up for the next one, because it's just that good.

This was by far the best race you guys have put on. The course was fantastic, fun. The neighborhood, fan and students made the course fun, and fast. Great job. I loved the run through the campus. I can't wait for next year's race. I want to thank the young lady putting the medal around my neck. Her smile and the sparkle in her eyes melted my heart. I will never forget her face. The pictures of the kids at the end of the race is a great finish. Epic!

This was my third half marathon, but the first where I was able to meet the goal I originally set for myself. The race was great. I loved all of the Facebook post throughout the season encouraging you and getting you excited for the race. It was the attention the details that made this race so special; from having lots of potopotties, convenient parking, great route, great fans, great cause, great gear, down syndrome kids handing out medals, faces of the African children being saved, Santa Clause, and everything in between. I just loved every bit of it.

Founder Chris Field gives the race a great personal touch. It was very well organized and managed. The set up is so convenient from start to finish.

"AWESOME RACE for a First Time Marathoner" (about: 2013)

First Marathon
COURSE: 5  ORGANIZATION: 5  FANS: 5

Everything about this race was amazing! After signing up online, you were directed to their Facebook page that was updated weekly (sometimes daily) with inspirational quotes about running (Slay the summer!) and weekly giveaways. It made me excited seeing the posts from fellow runners and motivated me to keep training through those WARM, HUMID Texas summer mornings.

Leading up to the race, communication was exceptional. We had a major cold front roll through the week before the race, and the directors were kind enough to let runners defer until 2014 if the icy conditions were unsafe to drive in. He sent a race update at 4 am on race day to let us know all roads were safe and the race would take place! Good news for me, I was ready to complete my first marathon.

The course took you through some beautiful neighborhoods and Texas A&M University. There were hydration stations every 1.5 miles and bathrooms every 3 miles. They even included fresh fruit and GU every 6 miles for the marathoners. No need to wear your fuel belt on this race, you are more than taken care of along the way!! There were some challenging rolling hills throughout the course, but I made it through and feel even more successful because of it. :)

The mile markers were HUGE and could not be missed, and the art in front of each marker gave you something to think about through the pain. The spectators were plentiful and the people at the aid stations were energetic and helpful! Thank you all for being a part of my big day!

The final .2 miles was AWESOME! The faces of the children saved from child trafficking in Ghana lined the course. This really gave me the drive to cross that finish line, knowing I was doing this for more than myself. And to top it off, special needs children were at the finish line handing out medals. It was emotional and amazing all at the same time!

Finally, the race swag was WAY more than anything I could have asked for...foam rollers, a participant shirt, a finisher technical shirt, a HUGE bling medal...we were spoiled!

I think the icing on top of the cake was this: the course was supposed to close 6 hours after the start, but at 6:30, there were still a dozen runners finishing their race. Instead of calling off the police, the race director found the last marathoner and finished the race by his side. No one was left behind....that my friends, speaks volumes to what this race is all about, personal accomplishments and selflessness.

Will I be here next year, you better believe it. All 26 point 2 miles of it! Thanks for a GREAT race!!!

"well-organized, friendly and spirited" (about: 2013)

Well-organized event. The volunteers at expo and on raceway were very helpful and friendly. Spectator turnout was good, despite frigid conditions. Course is fairly flat with a few rolling hills. It has several long flat straight-aways. Best part of the course is running through the A&M campus over the last few miles, with some spirited groups of students cheering the runners on. Hats off to the race organizers for opening up spots for Dallas runners at the last minute after the Dallas Marathon was cancelled. I would highly recommend this marathon.

"Running Love Beginning to End!" (about: 2013)

6-10 previous marathons | 2 Bryan/College Station Marathons
COURSE: 5  ORGANIZATION: 5  FANS: 5

This is my second year running this marathon and you can feel all the love that is put into this race from 6 months before the race to weeks afterward!

They've got the basics down...abundance of water, medical stations and port-a-potties, outstanding police presence and traffic control.

They stand out with their passion for the sport of running and really being the best marathon for their runners. Several times, I was approached to make sure I didn't need anything...food, medical, a hand. Their charity work is so evident as well...and some special folks handing out medals to boot!

If it wasn't so darn hard to run 26.2 miles, i'd be back each and every year!
