"Fantastic course & race, an all round 5 star event" (about: 2013)

The BCS Marathon is amazing. As a first time marathon runner, this event is perfect for any type of runner. The course is fantastic. It is great elevation, and the scenery is very nice. It is so easy for spectators to get around and see their runners. My fiance was able to see me 8 different times along the course.

I trained to qualify for Boston, and was able to qualify with this race. The weather, atmosphere, and course were all 5 stars for me. I will absolutely come back and race this event again in the future.

If you are looking for a PR, this is a super fast course. Highly recommend it for any runner!

I have run 18 1/2 marathons in the past 4 years and I have done this one twice! It is an amazing race! So much fun throughout the year - not just at race time! I love seeing and hearing about what a difference Chris and our race dues are making in the lives and families in Africa! The pre-race and post race communication is awesome! Chris and his staff are so meticulous to details and the swag is amazing! Post race food and drinks are the best out there! Such a great race for the money and such a great cause! I love seeing the faces along the race course of the kids that have been helped thru this race! Such a huge impact and very emotional as you run the last mile!

Having ran several of the big name races, BCS ranks number 1 in my book. This was an incredible experience, this coming from a seasoned veteran. Thank you for your hard work. Will be coming to this venue till I die.

The BCS Marathon is fast, fun, and more organized than any other race! They have so many great volunteers and some great goodie-bag freebies for runners. I have run this race all 3 years and will be back next year!

"Great marathon. Run it if you can." (about: 2013)

It was a very cold day in College Station. Below freezing at the start. All kinds of panic about getting to the starting line, etc. on facebook. Dallas was canceled. The race director tried to get as many Dallas runners that wanted to run that day into this race with last minute registration, etc . The communication was constant and clear. The course was challenging for a flat lander from Houston, but, we knew there would be a few hills. The volunteers were out there in the freezing cold weather. Every water stop was well supplied. Very friendly volunteers. Medical was set up all along the course. They were super nice dishing out the Tylenol. There were lots of fun support groups along the way. Around each rest stop or maybe more often there were loud groups cheering for us. Great costumes and all had great energy. This is a great race. I recommend highly. If for no other reason, the race director held the finish line open a little bit longer than the cut off for the last 12 to 15 runners out there, and ran in with the last marathon finisher. That is runner friendly. ALL runners are welcome here. Parking is free and close to the start. Food at the finish looked fantastic and plentiful. Plenty for all finishing times. Great race. Great medal. Great shirts! Well done.

"If you run only run 1 race in TX, THIS IS THE ONE!" (about: 2013)

1. Race Director/Team: Best in class example of creating a 'runners race' - they know what they are doing and don't let anything get in the way of creating an incredible experience for EVERY runner! In 2013 as the Dallas race was canceled they bent over backwards and made many special exceptions to look out for the safety of runners that couldn't make it allowing them to deffer to 2014 and opening up those spots to displaced Dallas Marathon runners that could make it down. All within 48 hours of the start...How incredible!
2. Race Benefactors: You won't have to guess where the money is going - another best in class example of involving the benefiting charities into the race and race-day experience. Pictures of rescued children's faces from the Mercy Project line the last .2 of the course and the BCS Marathon's friends with the Down Syndrome Association put your medal around your neck!
3. Race Support: The medical aid folks, the aid station folks, the police and the community lining the course cheering is fabulous! Well supported with H20/Gatorade every ~1.5mi! Also 6+ food/Gu stations on 26.2 course!
4. Post-Race: They incorporate local BCS restaurants into the post-race food & drink and there's plenty of great treats - breakfast burritos, burgers, bananas, beer and margaritas.

I ran the Rock 'n' Roll Marathon in San Antonio last year, and it felt like herded cattle. This race makes you feel apart of the community. The race directors made sure to keep you updated and encouraged before, during and after the race. The volunteers were AWESOME! So much support from the community The race was flat and fast! And the best part, it's for multiple worthy charities! Just overall a truly blessed event!

This race had impeccable organization and a really enjoyable course. Lots of thought put into making the experience for each runner memorable. Spectators may have been a little low this year (2013) but highly understandable due to the freezing temperatures!! Fantastic race that I hope to do again if my schedule permits. I am so proud that my college and this town that I spent four years in put on such a good show.

"Awesome! Can't wait til 2014!!!" (about: 2013)

Awesome race, plenty of water stops through out the course (never found myself wondering how long til the next water stop like at previous runs I had done). Communication before the race was awesome. The crowds this year were even better than last year...so supportive and energetic despite it being freezing cold! Swag is awesome, medal was huge, post race celebration was awesome, so much to choose from. Getting to high five Chris (race director) at the finish line and getting my medal from a sweet boy with a huge smile on his face was awesome.
My best friend and running buddy joined me this year (I ran 2012 by myself)...and we both agree, we will have to do this one again next year!
