"This Race Is Consistently AWESOME!!" (about: 2013)

I came and commented on the greatness of the 2012 race and am back to comment about the greatness of the 2013 race, too! I can't list all the positives and accolades in the 1,000 word limit, so I will just say it remains a top option for must-run races in my book. I ran the Half last year and the Half this year.

My only actual race-related complaint (also from last year) was that there weren't enough instances of post-mile-9 Port-o-Lets (on the half course). After people intake all the water and Gatorade from the well-placed water stations early along the course, any need to evacuate becomes tenuous because there's nearly nowhere to go before you finish.

Other than that, nothing else they could control was bad. I will always recommend this race!

Great course, unprecedented communications with the runners, best swag/medals, attention to every detail and focused on the runners. Will definitely run again!!

This was my first half marathon and I enjoyed it immensely. The Facebook page was very informative and got me very excited for the race. They always posted useful information, from race details to fun facts. I look forward to running this race every year!

Thank you so much for making space for us after the Dallas Marathon had to cancel due to ice.

Great people, so polite and eager to help. Plenty of water stops, portolets, bananas, oranges. Finish is well stocked. Only race I have been to where the start area portolets had no lines.

"Great Race" (about: 2013)

The race is smaller than I've ever had, but it is organized better than any other race. The Facebook page and the updates make you feel like you are a part of something bigger than yourself. They make you feel very confident as runners, and very confident as world changers. If races were places, this race would be a warm home.

The spectators were so genuine in their encouragement, and when you run on the Texas A&M campus, some student organizations cheer you on in very interesting ways. There are not as many spectators as other races, but when you can see them in the distance, you have something to definitely look forward to.

And I have never looked forward to a finish like I do at this race because of the production they have there: kids faces as giant signs are posted from Mercy Project and then kids with Down Syndrome give you your medal with a smile. Sweetest thing ever.

Do I have to mention the food? So many choices of food: burgers, tacos, cookies, milk, margaritas, beer, pizza, or all of the above.

I was supposed to run Dallas but it was cancelled. BCS graciously opened up spots so Dallas runners could salvage all our training.
I'll be back next year!

"Fantastic race! Top notch experience" (about: 2013)

I ran the full BCS Marathon this morning, and it was truly an awesome experience. This was my fourth marathon (but first one in Texas), and I just can't say enough good things about it. From the hard work, excellent communication, and 'heart' of the race administration team, to the well-stocked aid stations, clearly-marked course, excited spectators and volunteers, great post-race food, and awesome 'swag' (love the travel-sized foam roller!)...this race is really something special. I should also note that the temperatures were near-freezing for most of the race, but all the volunteers showed up excited and ready to make this a great day for runners. I highly recommend this race to anyone looking for a fantastic race experience, whether it's your first marathon or one of many. I will definitely be back next year, hoping for another PR! Thank you, BCS Marathon, for putting on such a great event!

From start to finish, I was overwhelmed with the support the spectators, organizers, and volunteers provided for us runners! I will definitely make this my annual 1/2 and eventually full marathon.

"Conquered it with Encouragement!" (about: 2013)

First Marathon

Awesome, awesome, awesome! Jared and Chris were phenomenal! I completed the series and will do it again! I signed up for this in January (on a whim to score the Race Series jacket).... And will do it again. The communication is great. The food was wonderful. The volunteers and spectators were great. I don't have another half marathon to compare this one to, but I can bet that this one doesn't compare- blew me away. :). So many people gave encouragement and kept saying how good I was doing and you can't top that. Kuddos to everyone who came out in the freezing cold to conquer the course! And, even though registration was cut off, they found a way to get those who had their race cancelled (Dallas) in this year's race.
