"THE BEST Marathon ever!" (about: 2012)

The icy cold towels were a great addition. In all of my races it was obvious the organization, volunteers, and everyone involved really worked to make this a great race experience. First time races, be glad you chose this race to run. NONE of the other races I have run were this good! Job well done!!!

Really enjoyed this run, granted the weather was less than optimal. Small town feel but very well supported and MOST IMPORTANT this funded a great cause. Not a flat course, and a lot of concrete so be aware. After the race they held an auction for the locally painted mile markers which was very cool. Would consider doing again as a non - local but definitely recommend as a local or drive able event.

Easy to get to the start. Wide enough streets to accommodate all the runners. Friendly spectators. My Husband and kids were able to move around town and find me at various mile markers. It was unseasonable warm for BCS this year, but the organizer did a great job adding cold towels at a few of the later stops! Great way to tour the campus! THe food at the end was Fantastic!! And plenty of it! Great race!

This was my first Half and I LOVED every minute of it! Honestly, it was WELL organized. People were very supportive along the path. The path wasn't too hard and I loved going through campus. The police directing traffic completely have your back! I almost felt like a celebrity running through town!

Never run a marathon before this one, but I thought it was great. The people were nice and it went off without a hitch.

I had a great time doing the half-marathon. The race was very well-organized, the supporters were great, and the Texas A&M campus was really nice to run through. Had enough water stops and multiple (not just one!) portables at several parts of the race. I would run this race again in a heartbeat.

The only issues I had were the lack of toilet paper in the portables before the race (I forgot to bring my own, so bring yours just in case!) and long food lines after the race. Everything worked out well though.

"A Runner's Race" (about: 2012)

I've run 6 different marathons and this is probably the 1st or 2nd one I'd most want to rerun (especially in less tropical conditions). The course is a loop that takes you through a nice mix of neighborhoods, wooded areas, and A&M campus. It has gradual inclines and subsequant declines that allow the legs to use different muscles w/out the damage done by steeper hills. Most importantly, it's fairly evident that the race organizer is, or has been, a runner. The attention to detail exhibited, from pre-race communications to the expo to race day, is second to none. And I've never seen a race organizer stand at the finish line and greet every finisher. It was beyond classy. The volunteers were fantastic and as encouraging as any I've seen. The only drawback is that this was very light in terms of spectators. But if you're looking for a small race with a great course and a race organizer that knows every step you're about to take, I couldn't think of a better one than BCS.

First Marathon
COURSE: 5  ORGANIZATION: 5  FANS: 5

I may be a little biased as this was my first full marathon but I can't think of anything that could have been done better! I have run three other half distance marathons prior and enjoyed them all but this event was by far my favorite. I had a wonderful experience from registration to finish line. Thank you for a very memorable first marathon weekend experience!!!

"A great" (about: 2012)

6-10 previous marathons | 1 Bryan/College Station Marathon
COURSE: 4  ORGANIZATION: 5  FANS: 4

This was my 10th marathon, and first time running a smaller race (less than 1,000 for the marathon, 3500 overall). It is only their 2nd year, but it is very well managed and organized. I was very impressed with the team's passion, and personal touches with numerous email, facebook and twitter updates leading up to the race. Unlike some bigger races, I felt very 'connected' to the event and its charities. The course itself was diverse - some rolling hills, flat spaces, etc. Crowd support is small but enthusiastic. I would encourage it for anyone looking for a change from a big city marathon - the people of College Station/Bryan are wonderful, and welcoming, and it was a fun weekend overall.
