COURSE: 5 ORGANIZATION: 4 FANS: 5 This was my 3rd marathon and I was so impressed! It was the flattest course I have run yet. My friend and I get together to run marathons across the US and we were wary of the "loop" course track; however, once on the course, it was so easy that it was quite pleasant. Finishing along the boardwalk was a treat! Also, the ocean breeze was very soothing. Recommended for a first-timer. Also, although the course is thick with participants in the beginning, it really thins out after the first lap, but there is plenty of water, Bruce Springsteen and friendly NJ locals cheering you with your name from your bib! Loved it! | |

COURSE: 4 ORGANIZATION: 4 FANS: 4 NJ puts on a good race. Granted it was a bit pricey, but they give you a technical shirt AND a finisher's hat, so no complaints on that. Very well supported race in general. My only complaint would be that the race started late, and the traffic out was very backed up given limited road access, which made getting to the airport a bit hairy. Overall, I would heartily recommend this race though. | |

COURSE: 5 ORGANIZATION: 5 FANS: 5 Last year I ran the half marathon and enjoyed it so much that I decided to do the full this year. It did not disappoint. The event is extremely well organized from start to finish. The volunteers are wonderful. I had an accident before the start of the race and was upset and agitated. I found this wonderful volunteer who immediately calmed me down and went out of his way to help me out. I've never encountered anything like it in any other marathon. I ran with the 3:40 pace group and the pace leader was great. I finished in a 3:40:02. I was also lucky enough to win an age group award and it was the the nicest and most original award I've ever won. I would highly recommend this marathon. Very runner-friendly, along with a fast, flat course. Don't miss it! | |

COURSE: 5 ORGANIZATION: 5 FANS: 5 They do a really nice job putting on the New Jersey Marathon. The weather was great and it has an awesome start/finish right on the beach! Somehow I managed to lose my finisher's medal after the race. I contacted the Race Director and I had a new medal mailed to me by Wednesday after the marathon. Great job by everyone putting on the event and I will make sure to come back | |

COURSE: 4 ORGANIZATION: 5 FANS: 4 I put together a relay team so that three friends and I could participate even though we weren't up to or interested in the full, or even half, event. We had a fantasitic time and want to say THANKS to the NJRRC, the relay race director, the NJM Director Art Castellano, and all the volunteers and others who made this possible. We'll be back next year, either as individuals for the half or full, or as part of another relay team. | |

COURSE: 5 ORGANIZATION: 5 FANS: 5 This was my 3rd New Jersey Marathon and WILL be more. This race has been growing each year. I have a feeling the NJM and LBH will reach its posted limits next year and close early. Plenty of water/Gatorade stops. On-course services includes: clocks at every single miles (who needs GPS anymore?), live bands, medical facilities, petroleum jelly, fluid stations, energy gels, gummy bears, flat cola, bananas, oranges, friendly and encouraging spectators, and course marshals and police officers. No need to worry about being hit by a car. This race also has a pacing team based on Boston qualifying time. What more could you ask for? They provide everything for you to do your PR or qualify for Boston. Don't expect them to run the marathon for you now. You get technical shirt/Dri-Fit long-sleeve shirt (short-sleeve for half-marathoners), unbeatable medal, and finisher's hat. Post-race food includes vegetarian chili, corn bread, fruit cocktails, trail-mix and more. | |

COURSE: 5 ORGANIZATION: 5 FANS: 5 Spectators were yelling my name and urging me on as I was near the finish line but having problems! The volunteers were the BEST! While I have run the New York City Marathon and the Marine Corp Marathon a few times, I found the New Jersey Marathon a friendly and personal marathon! I felt like I belonged here! The runners were so happy and strangers spoke as they ran! I felt less pressure! This is the marathon of the people! | |

"A memorable experience" (about: 2007)

COURSE: 4 ORGANIZATION: 4 FANS: 4 This was my first half marathon and it was an enjoyable experience. The pre-race expo was simple; not much to talk about. Massages were available before and after the race, which was a nice touch. The weather was simply beeyootiful and the turnout was excellent. The Ocean Place Resort and Spa, which hosted the race, was overflowing with participants...resulting in long lines outside restrooms. There was a pleasant oceanfront start and finish. After a 10-minute delay at the start, leading to some restlessness, we were off. I was determined to stay close to the pacers, but lost them 2 seconds into the race! Someone stepped on my shoe during mile 2...and I stepped up the pace to make up for lost time. For beginners like me, it was a dream course...very flat and scenic...and covered some interesting neighborhoods. I was easily able to maintain my pace, even enjoy the scenery and the nice neighborhoods. Crowd support was remarkable. I have nothing to compare against, but I thought people were friendly and very supportive! There were literally bells and whistles, bands and cheering crowds at several places. There were several fluid stations, offering first Gatorade, then water. Toward the middle of the race, aid stations carried GU and oranges. The volunteers at aid stations were very friendly and encouraging. The last mile seemed an eternity, but I guess that's true of all races!!! The finish was packed with spectators. Finishers were cheerfully greeted with medals, finishers' caps and bottled water. Post race refreshments were great...chili, trail mix, fruits. Overall, I had a wonderful time. I will definitely return...hopefully, for a marathon next time!!! |
