"Amazing Autumn Marathon" (about: 2014)

This was only my second Marathon, and the other one I ran was a long time ago when I was in college, so in many respects, I considered this my first marathon all over again.

The course was great, it was nice running through the beautiful PA woods and small towns. I also really enjoyed running on the trail section, it softened the pounding some as well as broke up the course nicely. The people were great, the update emails were hilarious and very informative
The volunteers were amazing and very helpful..
All in all t was a great experience and I hope to be back again.

This is such a great race. This is my second time participating in it. The scenery is beautiful. I qualified for Boston this time and couldn't be happier. I will definitely run this one again,
The organization was awesome and i loved the Krispy Creme Donuts at the end.

"Great Race" (about: 2014)

This is my 3rd time running this event. The organization of the event, the e-mail notifications, crowd support, scenery, etc. were fantastic. I would recommend this race to anyone.

For people that do run the race . . . or any race for that matter . . . have the common courtesy to drop your gloves, gel packs, and other garbage at a water station instead of all over the road for others to pick up after you.

To all of the volunteers that helped support the race . . . a big THANK YOU.

Keep up the great work and I wish you continued success in the future.

Course is very good. A few dead areas late in the course and two big hills late, but generally a great course. Love the rails section and the crowd support for a smaller marathon.

Everything is organized very well.

Wish fans could follow online.

Fans and volunteers are amazing!

"Best marathon I have run in my 35 years of running" (about: 2014)

This was my 2nd Steamtown in a row. I have been running marathons for 35 years and this is by far the best course, most efficiently run, and the best group of volunteers that I have come across. The running expo was outstanding and provided valuable advice if applied on race day. The communications was by far one of the best aspects of this race. Jim did an outstanding job of keeping us informed. I am looking forward to Steamtown's 20th anniversary next year and hope to qualify for Boston. I did manage to cut 4 min from last year.

Organizers should take over airport security at any major US hub the experience would be ten times better. Volunteers could not be nicer. My bus driver motioned to me to get on his 'PR' bus and he delivered. The spectators may not have been the quantity that you see at some 'majors' but they more than made up for it in QUALITY! If they can just flatten out mile 24 to 26, the marathon would be an 11, so I am only giving it a 10 out of 10.

This is my first marathon and it was an amazing experience. The amount of volunteers and their patience with all of the runners was just wonderful. The spectators really make the run exciting and I looked forward to the next town to see what kind of excitement was going to boost my adrenaline. The volunteers and spectators should be applauded!!

I can't say enough positives about this race! I loved Jim's prerace emails. They got me pumped up and excited about the race while providing important information. Everything about this race was well organized, from the volunteers to the water stations and port-o-Johns (How did you get so many teenagers up at that early an hour???). It was easy to park to get on the buses and I had a minimal distance to walk afterwards to get back to the hotel. Even getting my bag afterwards was fast and easy. This is such a great, positive race and I would gladly do it again.

If you're not interested in running a marathon that offers first class organization, enthusiastic, friendly and helpful volunteers, supportive and vocal spectators, flawless logistics, a favorable point-to-point course with a trail component, an expo with everything you need and expect (unless you need vendors hawking every running product known to mankind), and management that is all about making this marathon a positive experience for the runners, then you need to find yourself another marathon.
