The course was far from flat but a great marathon overall. Very well organized and nice downtown with lots of things to do.

I'm from Miami, and I think that the hills were minimal. After reading about the hills from years before, I was concerned, but I have never had as much fun doing 26.2 miles as I had this year in Nashville. I'm already making plans to return. Thanks for such a great time, Nashville.

As a 50+-year-old who walked 20 miles in this my first marathon I highly recommend this race for other 1st-timers. I entered this race as a Team In Training marathoner for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. My goal was to raise $3200.00 and walk 26.2 miles for the Society. Nashville is very hilly, the weather was cool and cloudy and I almost achieved each of my goals - but the memories were wonderful and far exceeded my goals. Walking in the neighborhoods, down 'Music' row, the wonderful volunteers, the bands, the cheerleaders, and the support of the fans was astounding. I will never forget the encouragement; without it I would not have completed the 20 miles.

I ran the half the two previous years and had a great time, but shared in the frustration of many at the problems in the past. This year was an exponential improvement in organization. They were ready for anything. The cool weather helped a lot too. The wave start was the best change the organizers made.

"Pretty good race, but post-finish sucked" (about: 2005)

The wave start this year worked pretty well, had no problems with bottle necks as reported in previous year...pretty cool for a guy of my pace to start the race wtih nobody in front of me.

The course wasn't flat, but no real killer hills. Spectators pretty thin in some sections but lots of bands and cheerleader teams to make up for it.

Finished just under 5:00 and the finish line was practically abandoned. All that were left was a few cut up bananas and half a bagel was all I was allowed. None of the other food advertised was left (no Krispy Kremes) and the 'Free Spenco Sandals to All Finishers' were nowhere to be found. Think all the half marathoners consumed the post-race goodies. No staff/volunteers there to handle the complaints either.

Elite and Spenco hasn't bothered to respond to any of my complaints.

I am a Nashvillian living in Chicago. I have run the marathon 2 years in a row. Nashville is the most beautiful town and the race truly does not reflect that fact. Why are we not running though Belle Meade and Percy Warner Park? Radnor Lake? Vandy? I realize that they want the finish at Adelphia, but I always feel like I have to tell Chicago runners who do CMM, 'This really isn't Nashville" after the race. People and organization were wonderful though.

I planned on spending some dough at the expo but had a panic attack with the crowd and had to leave empty handed. I do not know of a solution - I believe the Convention Center is the only place in N-Ville that can hold the crowd.

I ran the CMM in 2001 and 2002. I was curious as to whether the course change and the wave start would make it better than before. I enjoyed my first two trips to Nashville but I've got to say this year was by far the best yet. The expo was very well organized with no waiting when I arrived on Thursday and the volunteers were great. I arrived at the Coliseum around 5:30 on the morning of the race. The shuttles to the start line were waiting when I got there with no standing in line. The start line area had plenty of food and drinks along with free massages before the race. The wave start seemed to go very smooth with less crowding the first few miles. I like the course much better now and the weather was almost perfect this year. The spectators came out in big numbers and were very supportive throughout the course. The volunteers were awesome on the course. They were so friendly and helpful. I would like to say thanks to all the volunteers. The bands and cheerleaders were also great. I definitely recommend this marathon and I plan on running it again. Thanks Elite Racing and the City of Nashville for a wonderful event.

The wave start was a wonderful idea and certainly made things much easier than the past few years (I ran it in 2003 & 2004). This race has come a long way! Course is very fair... not flat by any means, but not overly hilly either. Weather conditions (which they can't control) turned out ideal for us runners (sorry spectators... little cool for you!) Expo ran smoothly (was there on Thursday afternoon).

Only complaint I had was around mile 15 leaving the greenway we had to go down a VERY short, steep hill to hop off the trail. There must have been a better way to do that. But that is being picky... beat my best time by 37 minutes and will gladly do this again! If you are thinking of doing this in the future, I would sign up as early as you can - I have a feeling next year (2006) they will sell out for the first time!

"Well organized marathon" (about: 2005)

This is my third marathon (MCM and Richmond previously) and I would say this was a good experience. It was run the best run of the marathons I have raced. Expo to finish line, very professional. Course was a little dull and I was preparing for hills but found Richmond to be hillier. CMM was actually pretty flat. Support on the course was great. Mile markers well marked with time posted. Lots of water stations and outhouses if you needed them. I would race it again if I didn't want to experience other races.

You actually get a lot for your dollar at CMM with the free post-race concert and additional tickets are only $25. Disappointing that Sara Evans stiffed us, so I didn't attend the concert. Still lots to do in Nashville and made for a great weekend.

This was my first CMM and I had a great time. The course was mostly flat and the water and Powerade stations were well staffed and had plenty on hand. The orange slices were a nice touch! The crowd was very supportive and kept me going the whole way. The last mile was fun as it was mostly downhill. This helped me finish with an extra kick. Can't wait until next year.
