This was my second Little Rock and 141st overall. The support was fantastic, and the people of Little Rock were great. I will be back again in 2008, and I recommend this marathon as a must-do.

The organizers did a superb job and the perks tent was definitely worth the additional cost. The spectators were a little sparse, but enthusiastic. Having our first names on the bib is a great idea. It was a fast course to me. I think most people who do not live in the Midwest would find this course fairly easy - I set a P.R. The water stations were very well organized with all the essentials. An enjoyable marathon.

"BEST MARATHON EXPERIENCE YET!" (about: 2007)

11-50 previous marathons | 1 Little Rock Marathon

The people of Little Rock and the first-class organization provided by the race directors and the amazing volunteers made this my best marathon experience to date. Love the medal! Keep the pasta party at the Peabody - definitely a first-class experience! The Hatcher House perks tent was definitely worth the extra cost and then some - those folks put on an excellent performance. The course is great, and the hills definitely challenging, but I feel they lend more to the overall sense of satisfaction. The course support by the volunteers and the citizens of Little Rock were amazing. Thank you for my best marathon experience to date.

"Decent race with growing pains" (about: 2007)

11-50 previous marathons | 1 Little Rock Marathon

Decent race with growing pains. Volunteers were very helpful and friendly, but the start was poorly planned (but fixable). I started near the 4-hour goal group - took over 2 minutes to reach the start, passing many walkers on the way. (They need to force the walkers to the back at the start.) Around 1 mile they had to move us over to make way for wheelchair racers who started earlier, as the course looped back. There was a constant hill from 14 to 16, but the neighborhood at the top was the best part of race. Support at water stations was very good.

Wonderful hospitality, good spectators, interesting course, bus service to and from hotels, plenty of post-race food/refreshments, great medal, and finisher shirts. The organizers here have really got their act together!

"I'd recommend this race..." (about: 2007)

11-50 previous marathons | 1 Little Rock Marathon

My lasting impression was the friendliness of everyone involved. A marathon shirt and a finisher's shirt. That's cool... can't remember that from the previous 44 marathons I've run. Can't remember at what mile it happened, but I ran by a church with a choir singing with such enthusiasm that they could have been competing nationally. They sounded great, the smiles were plentiful and the energy was tops. Little Rock ROCKS!

"Just gets better and better" (about: 2007)

11-50 previous marathons | 4-5 Little Rock Marathons
COURSE: 5  ORGANIZATION: 5  FANS: 4

Every year the LR Marathon tries something new. I applaud the attempts to be better every year. This year some of the innovations were a Classic Rockers event for older walkers, a two-hour early start for slower runners, different medals for men and women, and a slightly different (easier!) course. The basic mood of the marathon remains the same, though: Runapalooza!

The expo was good. Smallish, but with a good variety of vendors. Lines were long for people buying pre-race necessities like Gu and BodyGlide, however. Package pick up was quick and efficient. Lots of eager volunteers on hand even right as the expo opened. Also lots of massage tables for those so inclined.

The race course itself was pretty much like last year's, with the long hill coming at miles 13 - 16. That mean final hill was shorter, however. More of the race took place on car free bike trails, and that cut some from the mile 24 hill.

Seemed like fewer relay teams but more walkers this year.

The finish line featured yet another shirt and all kinds of food. There was even chocolate milk, the perfect recovery food. And who can forget the biggest medal ever?

I really appreciated the genuine Southern hospitality enjoyed while at this event. The weather was incredible, the course scenic and interesting... and the people, the volunteers, etc. were just increbible. Just can't beat pretty Southern girls with a beaming smile and I saw plenty this weekend. The medal is just fantastic.... It is HUGE. My second graders thought I was champion of the world when I showed them. IF I RUN IT AGAIN, I will skip the pasta dinner and spent the 25 bucks extra on the "perks" tent. I wanted a massage and a place to really relax after the marathon. What hills? Oh the hills were there, but they made it more interesting. I just loved Little Rock and the people. I will probably be back for the marathon, but I will definitely be back just for a visit. Perhaps a BBQ tour.

It was perfect weather, except for the wind! A little chilly, but good for running. There was plenty of water, Gatorade, and food. The fans were great! I really enjoyed the brewery near the end of the race!! Good beer! This is a very friendly city. I recommend this marathon to everyone! Good job, Little Rock, I love that medal!!

"I had a great time in Little Rock" (about: 2007)

6-10 previous marathons | 1 Little Rock Marathon
COURSE: 4  ORGANIZATION: 5  FANS: 5

It was evident that the race directors put a lot of time and energy into this marathon. The excitement at the packet pick up/expo, pasta dinner, and post-race party was evident.

The first part of the course took us past the Little Rock sights and it was interesting. The 2nd half was hilly, but that was mentioned in the race information. I liked the out-and-back part of the course because if was fun to look for friends ahead and behind me.

The medals and the t-shirts were great. I did sign up for the perks tent and I do not know if that was worth the money.

The weather was great, the fans were great, and it was a good time.
