Love this race, even though I struggled this year. I love BCS, and atmosphere! Loved running with my best friend who completed her first half marathon!

First Marathon

The 2013 BCS Marathon was my first ever marathon. As a newbie I was a little anxious about what to do, where to go, where the porta-potties were etc. But the organizers told us everything we needed to know - all we needed to do was turn up and run. It was icy cold for the entire run, but still there was great support and at the finish line the children with downes syndrone were there to give us our medals. Just a wonderful experience all round. Will definitely do this one again and again.

I've been running marathons since the 70s and this is one of the best right up there with Chicago and Boston. Good job!

This was an amazing experience for me! My first half marathon was in the BCS last year! This year I went for my first full marathon!!! The BCS was the perfect race to complete my journey! I always felt informed and cared about! The race director used social media to connect with all the runners! It was very motivating and I will always refer my friends and family to this race in particular!!!!

I was supposed to run the Dallas marathon & was so disappointed when it was cancelled. A friend told me they opened up some spaces for the BCS & we got in. The director & volunteers were so appreciative that we came even though I felt it created a lot of last minute scrambling on their part. They all kept thanking me for coming, and really went out of their way to accommodate us transplants!! I thought the course was mostly flat, well marked & staffed. There was someone directing traffic at every intersection. All the water stops, medical stations, snacks & restrooms were well placed & had plenty of volunteers cheering & thanking me for running. The best part was running the last leg through campus & having all the students dressed up & cheering! I loved how you had the children handing out the medals at the finish. I was impressed to see the race director at the finish, much less getting a hug & congratulating me on my first marathon. The after party had plenty of food & beverages, unfortunately it was too cold for me to enjoy...maybe coffee or hot chocolate next year might help!! I think it worked out much better for me to have run the BCS race as my first marathon since after all I am an Aggie!, and also the size of the race & atmosphere were much more my style. Thanks to all involved great job! Look forward to returning in the future.

I can not say enough great things about this marathon! I love/loved the passion behind this marathon. I loved the communication from race coordinators with the runners. I love that there were spots opened up for Dallas runners. I loved the ease of parking the morning of the race. I loved not having to wait in line for a porta-potty. I loved the frequent water stations. I loved the cheering teams along the way. I loved seeing the faces of the children we were helping at the end of the race. I loved receiving my medal from precious children with Downs. I loved that the race directors/coordinators were so involved. It was awesome to know they let everyone finish before they stopped the official race. And I love my finishers medal and shirt that represent my PR!!! Great race! Great cause!

The communication, encouragement, and engagement of the race directors is wonderful. The course is easy and fairly interesting, but the best part is the community and volunteer support-they make this easy!
