I've attended many marathons as a spectator for my kids. I decided to make this one my first 1/2. It is a very friendly and well organized event. The route is enjoyable with well placed water stations, first aid stations, and encouraging volunteers.

Thoughtful, supportive directors set this race apart. Truly a fun run that was a blast to participate in.

First Marathon

The passion and organization with which this race is run made doing my first marathon feel so much less intimidating. From the perfectly marked course, to the plentiful support along the way (medical, food/drink and cheering on!) and wonderful organizers and volunteers, everything just came together to make the miles tick by most enjoyably. For anyone relatively new to this sport, I simply cannot imagine a better first marathon. BCS has all of the amenities of the biggest and best while having a much more down-home, intimate feel. A+++++!!

"AWESOME RACE ON SOME MANY LEVELS" (about: 2013)

This is my second BCS marathon and I will be back next year. I absolutely LOVE the medal this year (huge!) and the finisher shirt! A big bonus is getting a travel size foam roller. This year they added student organization cheer stations and they made it so much fun to make those miles past 20 go by faster! The organization is awesome, lots of communication, wonderful charity the race benefits, excellent food, beer and marjaritas and loads of support (aid stations, porta potties, gu, bananas, brownies). This year they offered deferrals to next year due to the ice storm and opened up spots for the canceled Dallas marathon runners. They didn't have to do this. Almost all races wouldn't go to that extent to help out runners that were going to miss the race due to travel problems. Just shows you they care tremendously for the runners!

Navigating the curbs and turns on campus was challenging in the final miles but I loved the downhill at the end! That was epic!

Great organization, gear, and water stops were the best I've seen yet. Director kept everyone updated and I felt like the runners were really catered to this race.

"Awesome Half Marathon" (about: 2013)

The pre-race organization was superb. The race director provided updates as the date approached and even gave weather updates concerning icy weather the night before and morning of. The marathon expo was large and had lots of vendors and free stuff. Parking at the race was easy and ample. The atmosphere was great. There were lots of cheering spectators, especially on campus. All of the groups at water stations were inspiring. The course itself was flat and wide, and the road conditions good. The finisher shirts and medals look great, and the post-race spread of food was huge. On top of all of this, the race also benefits a worthy cause.

My first half marathon ever and I only entered cause someone called my bluff. Boy am I glad I did. 13.1 miles is 7 miles more than I want to run on any given day, but the course made the challenge fun. The spectators and volunteers were great: standing in the cold with signs and encouraging us. The college kids go all out to make you feel special. Water/food stops were fantastic- even if the gummy bears were practically frozen! The organizers ordered 3000 plus Mylar blankets the week before the race as the weather was forecast to be incredibly cold- that's the kind of attention they put into their race and how much they care for the runners safety and overall experience. I am likely to be sorely disappointed in any other distance race I sign up for as I don't see how this one could be beat. Hot food and tap beer greeted me at the finish line. Fantastic day, fantastic race!!!
