"Nicest Post-Race Event" (about: 2005)

First off, thank you for such a wonderful racing experience. This was my fourth marathon (Baltimore and Richmond last Oct-Nov., and Clearwater in January). I?m still very much a novice having never run any race of any distance prior to Baltimore and each event experience is totally new and exciting. I very much enjoyed the post-race luncheon and opportunity to meet and eat with other runners. This was the nicest post-race event I?ve had to date. The weather, course, volunteers... all were wonderful.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all for a wonderful experience at the NJ Marathon. My sincere compliments to the race director and everyone who assisted in making the race a clear success. It was my first marathon and I was thoroughly impressed with the organization and efficiency of the event. The runners were treated well, even spoiled if I may say. The fluid/fuel stations were more than adequate. The course was very nice and the fans were positive and supportive.

Special thanks to Marty, who was a phenomenal tour guide. He not only succeeded at acquainting our group with the course, but kept us laughing the whole way.

And finally, the volunteers and organizers along the course were wonderful as well. Oh yes... and the weather was spectacular! I could not have asked for a more pleasurable first marathon experience and this marathon only further piqued my interest in the sport. I wasn?t quite sure what to expect even up to race start, but I was so delighted by the whole thing that I have since begun preparing for my next marathon and even convinced two good friends to try training with me. I am officially hooked!

Thanks again!

"These organizers really spoil the runners! " (about: 2005)

Now that I'm doing other marathons, I'm realizing that the organizers of my hometown NJ Marathon truly go out of their way to be the 'mom and pop' of marathons. From the special attention at registration, to the extra food on the course, they don't spare any effort to help runners have a truly enjoyable time. I did this as my first marathon in 2002 and didn't realize how special they were until I did other marathons. In 2003 and 2004 I did their 'middle of the marathon' 10 miles.

First of all, thanks for running a great event! It was my 8th marathon and second NJ marathon. Last time I ran this event it ended at the Long Branch HS. The changes to the course are a great improvement!

All of the volunteers were very friendly and did their best to be helpful.

Once again, many thanks!

I just wanted to thank you and all the volunteers who made the race possible. I was really impressed by the level of organization and the attention to detail. You should all be proud of the the work you did. Thanks again, and hopefully I'll get a chance to run it again.

"What a weekend!" (about: 2005)

Hi Art,
Congratulations to you and all of the volunteers for the 9th NJM. What a weekend! I know the weather could not have cooperated any more, but the real support came from the volunteers. Incidentally, my 13-year-old son was able to volunteer at the finish line as a last minute set-up. I also enjoyed the route so much more than last year when I ran the 10-miler. Putting the band near mm 22 could only been the choice of an experienced runner. I got such a boost from the music that I smiled from ear-to-ear even though by body was really beginning to feel the macadam.

My sister brought my 85-year old mother from Philadelphia and the handicap access was just as you said it would be on the phone the other night. Both of them enjoyed the event. I broke 4 hours for the first time, so am delighted and hopeful that I can qualify for Boston some day - maybe at NJM 10. I made a point of thanking Marie for the 4 hour pace. I felt like I was being helped along by a celebrity. I just knew that I had to try to keep her behind me and so I would reach my goal.

So, thanks for all of your dedication and hard work. I hope you are elated with the outcome ? you should be.

Regards,

I just wanted to say that I ran your NJ Marathon course on 4/17/2005 and found everything was handled excellently. This was my 8th marathon and the NJ marathon is one that I would highly recommend. Thanks for a great race. Although I did not meet my Boston goal of 3:35:59, I finished the race with a respectable 3:44:40. Thanks again. Keep up the good work.

I wish to commend Art Castellano and all the many volunteers who made this year's marathon a first class event. My work colleague, a seasoned marathoner but first time NJ Marathon participant, had nothing but rave reviews.

As a late bloomer, I have to thank all the NJRRC Sunday run regulars for their encouragement and support. This is my third marathon, but not my last!

Thanks to Art Castellano & Co., I had another enjoyable marathon experience at the Jersey Shore last week. It's a nice, flat course that has incredible views of the ocean when we're on the boardwalk portion of the race. Art and his crew makes sure there's plenty of parking, shuttle buses, food/drink/sunscreen/vaseline at the start, numerous water/Gatorade stops with some having bananas/oranges later on, to finishing to a terrific crowd at the finish line to cheer everyone on (even though my legs were aching). I look forward to this race every spring and experiencing the Jersey Shore. Thanks, Art! You're the best!

Just wanted to say thanks to Art and all of the volunteers who were great support during my first marathon. Met a lot of great people who put in many long hours to make the race a success.
