This was my 18th marathon, but my first time to do the Country Music Marathon. I really enjoyed the experience. The marathon was extremely well organized...the course was well marked...and the support was among the best I've experienced. Thanks to the cheering spectators and bands who were around even for us walkers who came in at the end. The weather was warm and sunny...so be prepared to wear sunscreen. There were some hills...but nothing outrageous! All in all, it was one of the best organized marathons I've ever done. The support was tremendous. I'm forever indebted to the staff in the medical tents who gave me ice and icy cold bottled water when I was so hot at the end! Nashville is also a great city with lots to see and do! Thanks, Nashville, for a fabulous marathon experience. I highly recommend this one!

This was my 30th marathon and my first Country Music Marathon. The city of Nashville is beautiful, the race was well organized, the spectators were awesome, the aid stations were well stocked, the bands were terrific, and the finisher's medal was unique! I highly recommend this marathon.

This was my first ever race and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I had run the entire course in my training many times, so the hills didn't bother me. The fan support was amazing.

As everyone else said, though, it would be nice to have miles 11-18 and miles 21-25 more accessible for fans to cheer at. It got lonely on the greenway and in Shelby.

Also, handing out more fruit would be beneficial, although I'm in debt to the apple at 20 miles.

CMM 2007 was my 2nd marathon. My first was the Nike Women's Marathon in San Francisco, CA. I was able to set a new record in Nashville, which was a goal of mine. The course was great and the enthusiastic people along the course cheering us on were awesome (especially the nuns around mile 12). I will highly recommend this marathon to others.

The organization for this marathon was great. Ample fluid stops. Great crowd support for the half; the full portion had less crowd support but those who were there made up for the fewer numbers. Hills were a challenge for me, but I will be back to run this one again. Thank you, Nashville, for putting on a great marathon!

"Fun (and hilly) marathon" (about: 2007)

First CMM and I really enjoyed it even though I came up with a calf issue at the bottom of the hill on mile 17 and had to gimp it for the rest of the way.

The crowds were great and the support was well organized and good to the runners. Route was scenic however, there were several places where the roads narrowed quite a bit (in the residential areas around mile 5 and the river area around miles 13).

I agree on the accelerade being, as my kids would say, 'yucky' but thinning it with water helped quite a bit. First ever use of med tents for me (had to stop at two for ice and a wrap) and the staffs were great!

Overall, I would run this one again but for first timers, be aware that the ratio of half to full marathoners is 4 to 1 so for the first 11 miles and with 30K participants it can get crowded at times. It was great to see that many people out there supporting running. The bands were great and they had everything from Country to Rock. It sure helps to pass the miles.

Check-in was perfect and very fast. Expo was loaded with vendors and a bit cramped into the space.

Last thought. This was their 8th year running and with 30k in participants, they must be doing something right.

Very well done Nashville! I have run marathons with as few as 1,000 runners and as large as 38,000; this was as well organized as any of them. Very comparable to NYC in terms of size and organization, the only difference being that I didn't have to wait for 4 hours afer arriving at the corral area. The course was scenic yet challenging. The fan support was spectacular. The cheerleading competition was a great idea in order to keep fans along the course after the 1/2 split off. Those of you that say it's too hilly-Suck it up! This is Nashville for crying out loud, of course it's hilly. The wave start made the field more spread out so you can easily get into your race pace and stay there without dodging people and upsetting your rhythm; ALL large races should do this. The only thing that I was annoyed with was the fans who kept calling the guy dressed-up like Nacho Libre, Superman! Duh!

I've done all 8 CMM's and they all seem to get better every year. Fans and bands are super, organization is tremendous, and post-race Nashville is a ton of fun. Other than swapping out Accelerade, I think the only thing that needs a little improvement is the parking at the stadium before and after the race - was backed up quite a bit. I'm looking forward to #9.

I like everything about the CMM experience except the Accelerade. It just doesn't sit well with me. Instant nausea. Such is life. Anybody out there with a similar problem? How do you address it?

Warmer this year than last year, but a high sky and bright sunshine is welcome after the long, gray winter months. I find the course to be tough but fair. The rolling hills are numerous but manageable, with no monsters waiting to kill quads. The numerous bands lining the course help the distance pass quickly. Plenty of spectator encouragement, albeit most was during the first half. And that's to be expected, as the half is 5x larger than the full.

Post-race show was again first-rate. Met some more great folks after the race, and look to see them on the roads again.

I cramped during my favorite stretch on the bike trail along the river about 14-1/2, left calf knotting up. Made me downshift from race pace to survival speed. Not pretty. But it happens. Doing 11-1/2 miles of "hobble-shuffle" takes its toll on the body. Very sore case of tendonitis to the opposite leg from overcompensating for the cramp. Man, ya got to love marathoning. That's all part of the game. Gutted it out and managed an age-group award. I'll remember this one for a long time.

This was my first marathon and man was it a blast. The course was a little hilly, but not too bad. The organization of the race was great. There were plenty of water stops, port-o-lets and aid stations along the route. The fans were great, although the numbers dropped off after the 1/2 marathon split (I guess it is to be expected since 3/4 of the participants ran the 1/2). My favorite were the nuns cheering everyone on. I will be back to run this race again.
