I had an absolute blast running this race. I have been impressed with this race not just from the starting line, but from the minute I registered. For months, the humble, enthusiastic Facebook posts and emails have been a nonstop source of motivation. I enjoyed hearing how this race was developing while I worked on developing my own training for it! I cannot compliment the coordinators of this race enough! Yes, they were INCREDIBLY organized and dedicated, but what got me was how PASSIONATE they were! And that definitely came through in the race itself. I loved how the race truly focused on bringing out the best in BCS through the course and by highlighting BCS's signature cuisines in the post race buffet (which was phenomenal)! The little touches like Santa being on the trail and the hand painted mile markers really kept me going out there! I could go on forever, but to sum it all up- WELL DONE! And I will definitely be making this race a new finals tradition!

"Very organized, safe, geared towards runners race" (about: 2012)

This race was a lot of fun and as a former student of A&M very heartwarming to be back on campus. It was very well organized VERY safe with plenty of police support, well marked course, water, Gatorade, wet towels, medics... I could go on and on. This was my second half marathon, although i have ran in many 5k and 10k races so comparing it to the others, I felt very informed and comfortable come race day. The only reason I rated the course a 4 was because this race is considered flat but I highly disagree with that. I did not hill train and wish I would have. This posed extremely challenging for me. There were ones where the course was very narrow, specifically on welborn and through north gate. Also, there were very few spectators and cheering Going on. I was dissapointed in this. I will be doing this race again, for sure!!

"Well organized; well attended; minor improvements" (about: 2012)

By far the best half marathon I've ever participated in! One small complaint: the line for post-race food was ridiculous. If it had been my first half, I would have passed out by the time I got food (30 minutes later!). It should have been come-and-go and volunteers could have steered runners away from the tents as soon as they got food. Waiting that long to eat after you run for 2+ hours was a bit unacceptable. The line was a HUGE deterrent. I went straight to the beer tent where there was no line (no complaint there), but I would have appreciated a banana or something right as I finished. Great beer selection, though!

Pros: great parking
Quick access to the start line
Small marathon - didn't have to weave in and out of runners
Great tech finisher shirts
Cons:
No pace markers
Hilly course - not flat as promoted
Weather had the dreaded 2 H's - hot and humid

First Marathon

This was my first half-marathon and I have zero complaints. It was professionally managed and directed by Chris. His facebook updates/emails were always informative and motivating. I felt he was more of a friend helping me prepare rather than simply the race coordinator. The course and spectators were all awesome! See you next year!

I ran BCS Marathon last year and again this year, and I will next year and the year after... Chris and his Team are simply the Best. The communication excellent; quick turn around time when you ask questions. And the spectators were just awesome. Folks that just came out of their homes and didn't stop clapping and encouraging.
If you are looking for a Great Run, Chris is your Director, BCS is that run.
